Write A Press Release and Explode Your Business Presence

Most business owners fail to see the benefit of using press releases as a way to get their online or offline businesses known. Because of this very fact those who do use them will drive a lot of new business to their online or offline business if done properly.

If you think that your business is not newsworthy, think again. Go to Google news or any news related website and you will find many well-written, business related, press releases.

A press release is simply unknown news. It doesn’t have to be breaking news. It only needs to be newsworthy. If you have a product or service that no one knows about then you have newsworthy, press release material.

Here’s what happens when you submit a press release. Your press release is submitted to news sites, big and small. The news site will look at your press release and decide whether or not your press release is newsworthy or not. Most of the smaller sites will pick it up if it is properly written and easy to understand. The big guys such as CNN will look for unique information. Sites like Google and Yahoo is where an online business can do well because they are more apt to pick up a well-written release that is Internet or even better, it is search engine related.

The thing that you have to understand is that a press release is not an advertisement. It is a factual, narrative, newsworthy story and must be written that way. When you write a press release, you must write it in a third person fashion as if a reporter was interviewing you and the reporter is reporting your news to the world. In other words, when you write a press release, you are the reporter as well as the business owner who is being interviewed.

Writing a press release can be a daunting task because most of us are not used to writing in this way. However, once you have done a few of these it becomes much easier to do. As with anything that we do in life, the more we do it, the better we become at it.

If you have a new or existing business that you want to expose to the world there is no better way of doing it than through a well-written press release. If one of the big boys, such as Google, Yahoo, or even CNN picks it up, expect to get clobbered with more business than you can handle which is a nice problem to have.

If you feel that you are incapable of doing a press release yourself, you can always hire someone to do it for you. There are many services that will write it for a fee. Run a Google search for press release services. You will find a list of many who will perform this service for you.

Most press release sites have a free submission service as well as a paid service. While you can submit using the free version of the service, and you should for the most part, especially if you are just starting out however, you should use the paid submission service because of the extra benefits that it brings. With a paid submission, your press release will go out within a day or two and will be submitted to more news sites. I suggest that you do a paid submission quarterly and use the free service the rest of the time. Pay submissions are pretty inexpensive. Prweb is one of the largest on the web charges $40. Paying $40 every three months won’t break anyone considering the extra advantages that it can bring to your business.

You should try and write the press release yourself because hiring someone to do it for you can be quite expensive and unnecessary because with practice anyone can write a good press release him or herself. Check out Prweb and run a search for your type of business and read through the press releases there to get a better idea of how a press release should be written, and what it should look like. You can find Prweb here. http://prweb.com

One last thing that you should know about submitting press releases, most business owners will only submit a press release quarterly at most, while many others will do it just once and not do it again. If you want to get ahead and stay ahead of the competition in the business field that you are in, you should submit a new press release monthly using the free submission services and pay for it every three months.

You will be amazed how much better your business will do by using press releases because of the free publicity that it will bring to your business. Write a new press release often and watch your business grow a lot faster.

Always Evaluate Your Traffic

You have a website and it now is starting to get some traffic. It has been a long grueling haul but finally some visitors are beginning to find you. Your number one priority is to make sure that they keep coming back by providing them with great information. Your number two priority should be how they are finding you.

It is very important that you know where your traffic is coming from so that you can keep growing that traffic. The more that you know about the origin of your traffic, the more traffic you will get.

The whole idea of evaluating the traffic to your website is to find whatever consistencies there are and build on those that you find. There is an absolute goldmine in doing this as it will allow you to build on what you already have many times over.

For example; let’s say that you suddenly have a big increase in traffic from the search engines. The first thing that you will want to check is to see what keywords are being used to find you. If you find that the majority of your new found traffic is coming from one or two keywords, or keyword phrases, you will want to make appropriate decisions as to how not only to keep that traffic coming but what changes are needed so that you can potentially increase the traffic that you are already getting.

Here are a couple of things that you might do to increase your traffic with the keywords that you find. The first thing that you would want to do is to make those keywords more prominent on your website by using them more often throughout your site. Add it to your title tag, description tag, and keywords tag, and more often in the body, if it’s not already in those places. Just don’t overdue it. Never use your keywords anymore than 3% of the time throughout your website. Anything more than that, will hurt your rankings with the search engines. If your website is a blog or forum writing something that relates directly to the keyword or keyword phrase will help boost your prominence in the search engines as well. You should be able to write quite a few different posts that will relate to the keywords that you find.

You may find that a big chunk of your traffic is coming from a particular blog or forum that you comment or post to. If that were the case, you certainly would want to go there more often and comment or post. However people are finding you, there is always a way to make it better so that you can get even more people to your website.

I have written about the traffic evaluation tool Statcounter before on this blog. If you already have it, start using it. If you don’t, get it. Statcounter works on all websites, including blogs. This is the best traffic evaluation tool that I know of. If you can think of it, statcounter can do it. If you don’t have statcounter, you can get it here. http://statcounter.com Don’t worry; I’m not trying to sell you anything. There is a free version as well as a pay version of statcounter. I recommend you go with the free version because you probably don’t need the pay version at this point in time. Down the road you may need it, but for now, chances are you don’t need it.

You will be amazed at what you will find when doing a quick ten minute traffic evaluation of your website. Since all websites are different and there is no clear cut answer to driving traffic to any, one, website, makes traffic evaluation essential.

How to Get Better Results From Social Networks

I don’t know about everyone else but I’m tired of social networking websites like digg and all of the other big social networking guys out there.

The problem with the larger social websites is that most of them are very limited in the categories that you can submit your stories to. Social networking websites like digg cater more to the younger crowd and is no longer a good place for most Internet Marketers to have their stories submitted to.

As with everything that we do when we market on the Internet our readers need to be targeted. Social websites like digg don’t allow for this. As a matter of fact, digg is probably the last place you want to submit your stories to unless you have a gaming website or if your website has something to do with entertainment. As I said before digg caters to the younger crowd. Most of the people who use digg ages range from 16 to 22. That’s not a good group to market to because they have little or no purchasing power.

Social networking websites like digg, reddit, etc. are huge websites and getting your story on page one is pretty much impossible. If your story is submitted to any of these mammoth social websites, your story will be seen by very few people. These big social networking websites are not what they once were.

The point is that you want to be using social networking websites that will be of benefit to your marketing strategy, not hinder it. You want to use social networking websites that cater to the niche market that you are involved in. Go and try to submit to a directory website and submit to a category that has nothing to do with what your website is about and see if the directory accepts your submission. I will guarantee you that almost all of them will reject you. The same applies with social networking websites. I rather not be on a social networking site if my story is not in the proper place.

Your best bet is to go find a niche social website that deals with the topic of your online business. More and more of them are now popping up and all of them are doing well because most marketers are becoming more and more frustrated with the big guys and want to get better results from their social network marketing efforts.

There are a couple of really nice social networking websites that I found that have been setup with the Internet Marketer in mind. They may be smaller than the big guys but I’ll guarantee you that you will get more traffic with them than you do with the bigger social networking websites because it will be easier to find you on the smaller niche social websites. Plus you will be getting a lot more targeted traffic from these guys because they deal with your particular niche.

Crazy Egg Lays an Egg on this Blog

I added the crazy egg code to this blog a few weeks ago to find that the code conflicts with the adsense ads displayed on this blog. When enabled all of the adsense ads on the main page of this blog are rendered unclick able. The ads on the rest of the pages worked fine. Unfortunately I had to disable the crazy egg function.

It’s too bad because crazy egg is a great tool for analyzing the hot spots on your website. With it you can see what links your visitors are clicking on and where they are spending their time on your website. It uses a heat map similar to the one google uses. You can see immediately where the most popular places on your website are. You can also view it in list form as well.

This is a great tool probably for 99% of websites. I’m guessing most won’t have a problem with it. I guess I’m one of the few that will have to live without it. If you’ve never used crazy egg you may want to run over and take a look at it. Despite the problem that I’m having this is a very useful and valuable tool for analyzing the traffic to your website. Here’s the URL http://crazyegg.com

Has anyone else experienced this problem with adsense ads and crazy egg? If so, were you able to resolve the problem? What did you do to correct it? Any input will be greatly appreciated.

A Method that’s Helping This Blog Take Off

It is so important that that you add new information to your blog or website as often as possible. This blog has seen a substantial increase in traffic over the past couple of weeks due to the fact that I religiously write something new at least 5 times a week. Since I have started this blog I have not posted less than 5 times in a week.

When I started this blog a little over 3 months ago my Alexa ranking was over four million. Today it is less than two hundred thousand. That’s not bad considering where I was just a few short months ago. I expect that I will be somewhere under 100,000 within the next few weeks. That is a good ranking that most websites don’t see in such a short period of time. Many will never see that ranking at all.

My Google ranking was zero as all sites are when first starting out. Within 2 months I went to a page rank of 3. The thing is, I went straight from a ranking of 0 to a ranking of 3. This site never saw a page rank of 1 or 2. It went right to 3.

The traffic to this site has steadily gone up week after week. While I do promote this site regularly, I know that I get the best results when I update the content on this site.

The biggest increase in traffic to this site has come way of the search engines. The reason for that is because I write something here almost every day. Think about it. People use words to find information or products online so it only stands to reason that the more we write, the better the chances are that people searching will find words that we have written to find us. That’s why it is super important to write very often.

I remember when I first started this blog and being envious of the blogs that I visited because they were higher ranked than I was and seemed to get a lot more visitors than I did. Well that’s not the case anymore. This site ranks higher than 80% of the sites that outranked me just a few months ago. The reason for that is they don’t update their site as often as they should. Most of those blogs I no longer visit because of the lack of information that they provide. I’m sure that these sites get inconsistent results because they just don’t do enough to get it to the next level or even maintain what they already have.

There is a point here. I’m not bragging about my progress. I am pretty darn proud of it though. I’m telling you this because if you are struggling hopefully what I just told you about this blog will shed some light for you and will give you some incentive to continue going with whatever it is that you do online.

You need to, especially if your online business is still in the early stages of development to work on it on a daily basis. Contrary to what you have been told many times that making money online is easy and quick. If you have been marketing for awhile I’m sure that you have already figured out that this is not the case.

There is no get rich quick method. There is only slow steady consistent along with persistence that will help you reach your goal. Only when you think that it can’t be done is when you are doomed. Above anything else that you do, keep updating your website with fresh valuable information and you will see real results that will happen when you least expect them to. This website didn’t get where it is today by accident. It got where it is because it has not been neglected for even one day. I suspect that it will take off very soon. All the signs of it are there. Keep writing and take care of business daily and you will be in the same position as I am soon.

Two Easy Ways to Get Your Links Submitted Faster

I have spent the last couple of days concentrating on getting more back links for this blog. Other than content, getting back links are probably the single most important thing that you can do to get your website noticed.

I’ve been submitting articles to article sites and submitting my link to free directory websites. If you have done this in the past then you already know that it is a very time consuming and tedious task. While I like the results I get, I despise doing it.

I’ve already manually submitted to around 800 directories and several article sites and the thought of sitting down and spending several weeks doing more submissions was not really appealing to me at all. I remember what I went through submitting the first time around.

I decided that I needed to speed up the process so I went looking for software that would help me get the job done faster and easier. I ran a Google search to see what I could find. I did find a nice article submission software and directory submission software. Both are free.

Before you start moaning and groaning that submitting to article and directory sites using submission software will get you banned, let me explain how the two software’s work.

Both work basically the same way so I will be talking in general terms about both. Here’s how both basically work. When you open the software you are presented with a form with all of the conceivable information that you will need to supply for your submissions. You then select the supplied list of websites that you want to submit to. Then you just start submitting.

The actual website submission form will appear in the software and will be auto filled with the info that you supplied when you first set things up. If you are required to register you simply click the register link and the registration form will auto fill the required information. You manually select the category you want to submit under and you are done. You will also be required to supply an authentication code on many of the submission websites. Other than that, that’s all there is to it.

As you can see, these are semi automated software’s that allow you to make whatever changes that you need to make for your submission to be successful and at the same time will automatically insert any redundant information for you. There is no way that you can ever get into trouble using either of these submission software’s.

Using both of these software programs knocked off about 80% of the work of submitting to the article and directory websites. You can get them for free from the two links below.

Response to Day Job Killer Review

It’s been a crazy around here since I wrote the review on Day Job Killer last week. Traffic to this blog has more than tripled and is still going strong.

I use statcounter to track traffic to this site. Statcounter is a very detailed stat tracker. One of the nicest features about it is that it gives you where your traffic is coming from. All you have to do is click the where from link and you will be taken to where the click through originated.

What I found was that people on forums were leaving comments about my review and supplying a link back to this blog. The same thing was happening on other blog sites as well. Most of the original posts on these sites were asking if there were any unbiased reviews about Day Job Killer.

I also found that I was appearing on the first and second pages on the major search engines for certain keyword phrases. On Google I appeared second and third for two related posts. The thing is, I appeared in many cases for keyword phrases that I would never expect to rank on because I didn’t use these keyword phrases when I optimized that post.

When I saw what was going on, I started running searches for phrases like ‘is Day Job Killer any good’ Is Day Job Killer a scam’ etc. I took the results that I found and went to the websites that related to those results and posted to them and of course dropped my link in each post.

I know it must seem like I am blowing my own horn here but there is a point to be made. The point is if you find something that is working well and is very hot, run with it. Don’t sit back and hope it continues to go well. Do whatever you can to give it the best chance to get as many people to your website as possible.

Contrary to what most Internet marketers tell you, IM is hard work. There is no free lunch no matter what you are told. Chalk this type of claim to someone trying to sell you something and leave it at that. If you get a run on any type of campaign make sure you do whatever it takes to give it an extra push.

I know that the hype about Day Job Killer is going to die down sooner or later. That’s why I gave it that extra push to get as many visitors here with that post as I could. Now it’s up to me to make sure that I keep them here by providing them with helpful and informative posts. That’s the key to keeping your visitors coming back. I can tell you that not only has the traffic to this site increased, the amount of returning visits and the length of time that people have stayed here has gone way up.

Create a buzz and get people talking about your website if you can because there is no amount of advertising that you will ever do that is more powerful than word of mouth.

There is no secret to what I did here. I brought people here and gave them an honest, straightforward, review and didn’t try to make them sign up for anything or try to sell them something. I simply gave them what they came for. Approach your online business in the same way and the rest will take care of itself. ;-) Give your visitors a reason to listen to you and they will.

The 3 Quickest Ways to Drive Free Traffic to Your Website

Getting noticed when first starting out with an online business can be a bear. There are some things that you can do to move things along a bit. Here are a few things that you can do to get things moving forward.

1.) Writing to article sites is a great way to get some good quality back links to your website and will help you to be seen as an authority on whatever it is that your article is about. It may take a week or two for your article to be accepted, but it will give you some additional traffic to your website once the article goes live. The best part of writing articles is that other websites may pick them up and post them on their website giving you additional traffic and back links. I still get clicks from articles that I wrote months ago and they are still getting picked up by other websites giving me additional links. If your article is well written with good information you can do quite well with this method. To learn more about article writing read this post.

2.) Commenting to posts on other like minded blogs is another great way to drive some quick traffic to your website. Most blogs welcome comments as long as they are related to the topic that the reader is commenting to. Because blog sites allow you to place a URL back to your website you will have yet another great way to back link to your website. The more blog sites that you comment on the more back links and traffic you will get. Make your comments count for something otherwise people won’t click back to your website. Do this on a continuous basis and people will begin to notice you and it should drive some good traffic back to your website. Be sure to comment on blog sites that are relevant to your own website.

3.) Join some forums that relate to the subject matter on your website. This is another great way to get some good back links to your website which will get you some additional traffic back to your website. Forums also allow you to place a link in your signature file which will be automatically placed on all of your posts once it is setup. Unlike most blogs, most forums require you to register before you can post to them.

The three ideas mentioned here all have one thing in common. They all require that you write in an informative and concise way. If you come off as not knowing what you are talking about, you might as well not bother doing this at all. Give good, helpful, information and not only will you get results rather quickly, the search engines will take notice as well.

A Frustrated Blogger

I was on a blog today and read an older post about how the owner of that blog was really frustrated about the amount of traffic that he was getting to his blog. I thought about answering to that post and thought it better to leave it alone. He went on to say that he was getting about 40 clicks a day and wasn’t making any money. He also said that after he wrote that post his traffic went from 40 to 190.

There is a point here. You should never under any circumstance tell your visitors how poorly your website is doing. In that one post this person lost any credibility that he had earned with his readers.

Depending on how long that blog has been in existence, 40 clicks a day may not be all that bad. If it’s a new blog of say 3 months, then 40 clicks a day is pretty good. If the blog has been around for 3 years then that’s a different story.

Don’t think that because he got more traffic that there may be something to trying something like this to see what happens. I can tell you that it is human nature to go see what is up. As they say, misery loves company. I wonder what his click through rate is now that the dust has settled. I’m guessing that he is probably getting less clicks now than he was before that post.

I will bet that he lost the bulk of his returning visitors. People are not going to listen to anyone who is unsure of themselves. I will also have to assume that any newcomers to his blog will not read any farther than that post and probably will not be back.

The point is, it takes time, persistence, and patience, before you will see a regular flow of traffic. Realize this, and keep whatever frustrations you have to yourself.
