Day Job Killer Takes a Nosedive
I was just over at clickbank and found that day job killer dropped from the number one spot on clickbank all the way down to number 13.
I guess most have now realized that DJK doesn’t live up to all of the hype after all. I predicted this back when this thing was the hottest selling digital product on the net.
Today you can find so many negative things written about DJK which is what is probably keeping people away from it. I said in this post that day job killer was nothing but a piece of garbage and people would come to realize this sometime in the near future.
The fact that day job killer has dropped all the way down to 13th implies that that day has come for djk.
If you have never heard of day job killer or what it’s about read the post linked above or you can go their pitch page here http://www.dayjobkiller.com. Don’t buy into it or buy it because it is nothing but a bunch of smoke and mirrors and none of Chis McNeeney’s claims are true.
The unfortunate thing about it is that I’m sure Chris McNeeney made millions on this thing before people started to wise up about the product. It’s unfortunate that so many spent their hard earned money on this thing. The very fact that the product dropped all the way down to 13th is pretty telling.
To me, the worst thing about the day job killer ebook is that the original $77 selling price went to $197 in a matter of weeks and is still selling at that price. How can a product that costs $77 dollars one day, be worth $197 the next day? As far as I’m concerned no ebook is worth that kind of money. Increasing the price of a garbage product won’t add value to it.
The only thing that puts a smile on my face is that Chris McNeeney left his download page wide open and I’m sure that a lot of people have downloaded day job killer for free. I won’t give you the link to the download page because it is unethical to do so. I’m sure if you do some searching you will be able to find it on your own. ![]()

If you are doing this, you are promoting the wrong products
I think that so many Internet marketers are so fixated on digital or service related products such as software, ebooks, seo services, etc that they really don’t bother looking into physical products.
To start with most of these types of products are so saturated in the IM market it is almost impossible to find anything worth promoting that is potentially profitable. Have you run keyword searches for digital or service related products? If you have I’m guessing that you haven’t found much that will be profitable or isn’t super competitive.
There are a lot of gems out there when it comes to physical products because most people that do promote physical products are business owners promoting their own products. I can tell you that if you are an Internet marketer who is worth your salt you can blow these business owners out of the water because they don’t know crap about promoting their products online.
I have a couple of products that I have recently found that has very little competition that appears to be extremely profitable. I’m not going to tell you what they are at this time because I just started to promote them and I don’t have any real data at this time. From the early indications it looks like I’ll be able to get on the first page of Google in no time for my main keywords. It only took me 72 hours to get the website that I’m promoting this product on indexed.
If you are having the same problem that most Internet marketers are having of finding decent products and good keywords for those products promoting real physical products is definitely an easier game to play because the playing field is a lot more level and the supposed Gurus don’t seem to like playing on that field.
I can tell you from the research that I’ve done you can find some really nice keywords that are not very competitive at all.
Here’s the key. Find a bunch of physical products that you may consider promoting. It’s important that you find the product that you want to sell first because that’s what you want to build your website around. You will want the type of product that you promote in your domain name if possible as well.
Find a main product and build a niche around that product. For example: If you ran a search on chairs and recliner proved to be a good choice you could build your online business around recliners. Let me say before I go any further that I have no idea whether or not if recliner is a profitable choice or not because I haven’t checked to see if it is or not. I’m using this as an example and nothing else.
Here’s how to determine if a product choice is profitable or not. Run a keyword search with the yahoo keyword suggestion tool. In the above example you would run a search on chairs. You would look at the results that sit under the main keyword of chair and check to see if there is anything there that has a decent amount of searches. In our pretend search above we found that recliner has a decent amount of searches. Let’s pretend that we found 20,000 searches for this keyword.
The best thing to do when running a keyword search is to copy and past the results to a spreadsheet such as excel so that you can further analyze each keyword or keyword phrase result.
Ok. We’ve run our search and have found that recliner looks like it may be a good fit. To see how competitive and profitable the keyword recliner is we will run an allintitle search. Don’t worry, an allintitle search is a very simple process that takes less than a minute to run. Go to Google and type in allintitle:recliner
In our pretend allintitle search we find that recliner is found in the title on 5,000 website web pages. To determine how profitable and how competitive a keyword or keyword phrase is simply divide the search results by the allintitle search results to get your answer. In our recliner example you would take the 20,000 searches and divide it by the 5,000 allintitle searches which would give us a 4.
What we have done is ascertained the supply against the demand for our fictitious keyword search for recliner. In our search we found that the demand is 4-1 against the supply, which is an excellent ratio and a product that is well worth pursuing.
What our keyword search has told us is that there aren’t too many websites that we need to beat and that there are plenty of people out there who are looking for what we want to sell.

Google Webmaster Tools
If you are a webmaster and Internet marketer and don’t use Google’s webmaster tools you are missing out on a great resource that Google provides for free to all webmasters.
You do have to signup to use this resource. It takes less than a minute to do so. I am not going to go into too much detail of what features are included with Google webmaster tools. You can get that information yourself after you signup with Google.
The nice thing about Google webmaster tools is that you can run diagnostics to check for any potential problems with your website. You will need to verify your website in order to use this feature and any other features before you can start using the tools. This is all explained in Google’s webmaster member area.
If you don’t have a sitemap for your website you can create one using one of the webmaster tools. If you already have a sitemap you can submit it in the webmaster tools member area to ensure that Google crawls and indexes all of the web pages on your website.
Another nice relatively new feature that Google webmaster tools provides is a crawl rate report that tells you the number of pages that Google’s bot crawls a day. This is nice because it will tell you what pages Google is looking at and more importantly what pages they are not looking at which can tell you that there probably is a problem with the web pages that Google’s crawl robot is overlooking. This is an important feature because it will allow you to go back and revisit these pages and make whatever corrections that are necessary to get them indexed. The more web pages that get indexed on your website, will give people more ways of finding you.

Don’t Complain. Just do it!
Some of the comments that I’ve read on this blog (some live some not) has prompted me to write this post. I have read some comments here where the commenter complains about the lack of success that they are having. Some have even asked if I could direct them in some way to make them successful.
Here are some questions you need to answer honestly.
1.) Do you work on your online business everyday?
2.) Do you do research?
3.) Do you take action when something needs to get done?
4.) Do you jump from one thing to the next?
5.) Do you heavily promote your business?
6.) Do you update your website regularly?
7.) Are you willing to put in a lot of time and hard work?
8.) Are you looking for a get rich quick scheme so that you can make quick money?
If your answer except for questions 4 and 8 to any of the above questions is no or yes to questions 4 and 8 then you have found your answer.
I’ve said this a few times here on this blog that IM is a lot of work. There is no magic bullet that is going to suddenly make you successful. If you don’t put the work in you will get nothing back. If you jump from one thing to the other then expect to fail.
Running an online business is very time consuming and a lot of hard work to make it successful. If you owned a business in the real world would you sit back and wait until it somehow magically on its own makes you successful? Of course you wouldn’t. Don’t expect any different from an online business.
I’d hate to break it to those who are wondering why they are getting nowhere that if you want to have a successful Internet business you will have to promote, update your website, and do research regularly if you want to see results. You will see results if you put in a real effort.
If you want to be an Internet Marketer you will have to work at it every day to get it rolling and I can tell you that it will require many hours of work on your part. If you are not willing to put in the time and work to get your online business going quit now before you go broke.
One last piece of advice; Don’t post on a blog that you are having trouble getting traffic or making money. The sole reason that Marketers post is to show that they are an authority in their marketing field whatever that may be. Telling everyone that on a public site will not make things any better, it will make them worse. Do research and learn what you need to know to get things going. Better yet, hire someone to coach you. If you are spending a lot of money already on get rich quick crap you’d be better off spending that money on something that will teach you something useful.

A New Valuable Resource Named Dexter
I found a great FireFox plug-in over at Christer Edwards blog today. This is a very simple plug-in that tells you whether a web page or the entire website for that matter is in the Google index.
The plug-in, named ‘Dexter’,
places a simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ on the far right of your status bar to let you know whether a particular web page or website is in Google’s index.
As Christer explains it over at his blog that the plug-in can be used to check and see if a directory, forum, or blog, is indexed with Google before submitting to them. This will save you from wasting your time with these websites and you will know that you are submitting only to quality websites.
To me this tool is much more valuable than that for us Internet Marketers because it will also allow us to check our own websites to see which web pages are indexed and which ones are not.
Can you see the value in this? Think about it. As a webmaster and an Internet Marketer, the more web pages on our website that we get indexed on Google, the more ways people will have of finding us. That’s the name of the game isn’t it?
As Internet Marketers, we now have a great tool that will let us know which pages we need to improve on in order to get them indexed. That very fact makes this a tool that no Internet Marketer should be without.

Day Job Killer is a Joke!
I just got finished reading Day Job Killer and all I can say is WOW! I don’t mean that in a good way. I know that I said that I wasn’t going to buy this but I just couldn’t resist. I had to see for myself what all the noise was about and whether it is as good as everyone says it is.
This ebook is an insult to every legitimate Internet Marketer.
The strategies in that ebook are some really dark black hat strategies. Actually the strategies in Day Job Killer give normal black hat a bad name.
I can’t tell you what the strategies are in that ebook because of copyright infringement problems that I would have if I did. I can tell you that this ebook is not cracked up to what it claims to be.
The ebook is very poorly written with so many spelling errors that at times you have a hard time figuring out what some of the words are. The layouts of the strategies really suck and are unlike what the author and his affiliates claim and are very hard to understand. There is not enough detail for any one strategy which makes them very difficult to understand and I’m sure even more difficult to implement. For the most part I had to read them several times to get any kind of understanding at all.
If you are new to pay per click it will be impossible to succeed with the Day Job Killer strategies. Even if you are a seasoned pay per click marketer I guarantee that it will take a lot more work and improving on any given strategy to make any of those strategies work. It makes me shudder with anger every time I think of the claim that Day Job Killer was written for the every day marketing Joe!
Even if you do completely understand the strategies in this ebook I urge you to stay clear of this because I can tell you with almost certainty that it will cost you more in ppc advertising than you can afford or will ever get in return. The shame of it is a lot of get rich quick naive newbies are going to jump on this and run with it and not realize what has happened to them until it’s too late and they are broke.
While I can’t tell you how to do any particular strategy, I can tell you about one, and what it is supposed to do. I remember this particular idea because it infuriated me so much that I wanted to put my fist through my monitor. What it claims to do is to knock off a successful ad campaign that has been running for a long time. In other words make that marketer take his campaign and run for the hills to never be seen again.
I can’t even imagine doing something like this. That PPC marketer got there by probably testing his or her ad and probably has spent a lot of time, money, and effort to get there and then some snake comes along and destroys everything that he or she has worked for. I highly doubt that this works. What infuriated me about the whole thing is that it is being taught in that ebook and there will be a fair percentage of people out there trying it and a few will succeed. Most will fail miserably.
These types of black hat strategies run well for awhile until the search engines put a stop to them and then they die just as fast as they were born. There’s a lot of work involved in getting something like this going and you will have lost a lot of time not to mention all of the work you put into it when the search engines slam the door shut on these tactics. If you haven’t made the money that you wanted to make when this happens, what will you do then? Will you wait for the next fad that comes your way and jump on that too and hope that you’ll do better this time around? If that’s the case, expect to be right where you are right now; a place where you just spin your wheels in the mud.
Black hat marketing hurts everyone, not just the black hat marketers. Crap like this doesn’t serve any purpose except to drive up the already expensive marketing costs to do business online. With crap like this going on all of the time, I am absolutely amazed that people trust enough to buy anything at all online.
In my opinion, the only people who are going to make money with Day Job Killer are the owner of the ebook and the affiliates who were involved with its launch. The rest will lose their shirts.
I guess you have to ask yourself this question. Are you marketing to build a long term online business or are you in it to get rich quick? If you are in it to build a long term business, stick with what you have been doing because you will be get there far sooner than the get rich quick guys out there and you will be far and away more successful. Affiliate Marketer’s Know Your Product
I have received such a rash of spam lately that it is almost impossible to keep up with it. Most of the spam has been from marketers who sell other people’s products. (more commonly known as an affiliate marketer)
It never fails to amaze me how little that they know about the product that they are selling. An Internet Marketing Guru recently told me in an email that most affiliates market products that they themselves have never used. The first thing that comes to my mind is, how can they market a product that they know absolutely nothing about?
These affiliates use a prewritten ad copy to sell these products. The problem with this is that everyone else is using the same ad copy. How can the affiliate expect to make any sales with everyone else doing the exact same thing as he or she is doing? Their inexperience really shines through in this case. That’s why they end up spamming people because they don’t know what else to do. The only result that spamming will get them is banned from the affiliate program for life.
If you are selling a product for someone else you should at the very least know what you are selling. That requires either buying the product or ask the owner of the product to send it to you so that you can get acquainted with the product. If the owner feels that it’s to his or her benefit they may send it to you for free. If not, buy the product and learn everything about that product. The initial cost will pay you many times over with the knowledge that you gain about the product.
Be different from everyone else. Write your own ad copy that is uniquely you. Don’t do what everyone else is doing. If you know the product you will have a huge advantage over most of the affiliate marketers who are selling the same product as you are but are doing the same things that everyone else is doing. That’s what separates the super affiliates from everyone else. They know the product and they know the best way to market the product because of it.

Writing Effective Ad Copy
When writing an ad copy, there are some things to take into consideration. While this article will not tell you how to write a sales ad it will give you some insight to what a sales ad should contain to be effective. Implement these ideas in every sales ad that you write and you will end up with a good ad copy that will sell. The first thing to understand is that most products sold on the Internet are impulse buys. For the most part people do not search for a product to buy online. They look for information not something to buy. Even if you are selling information it is still considered a product and what web surfers are looking for is free information not information that will cost them money. A good sales ad should contain the following.
In the opening of your ad copy you want to create a bit of curiosity. Creating curiosity right from the beginning in your headline will hopefully draw the reader into the body of your ad copy. There are many ways to make the reader curious. I’ll give you a couple here to get you started. One way may be to use reverse psychology. Here’s an example using reverse psychology.
Can you see how this would catch the reader’s attention? It’s like when someone tells you not to look makes you want to look all the more. You think to yourself. Don’t tell me not to look. I’ll look if I want to. You’ll get the same reaction telling the reader not to read any further. Here’s a more positive headline.
In the above example the reader is given enough information to hopefully peak his or her curiosity without telling he or she what it is that is being offered. He or she will have to read the body of the ad if he or she wants to know what will help them with their search engine woes. Curiosity will catapult the reader to the body of the ad which is what will ultimately make the sale. You will however, need to get them to the body. Curiosity will do this very well if written properly.
You must be a creditable source in your sales ad. In other words you must be knowledgeable about what you are selling and be a trusted source. You must lead the prospective buyer into a mindset that you know what you are talking about and that you are an authority on the subject. If the reader feels that you cannot be trusted you will lose them forever. Do whatever it takes to build credibility. Use testimonials if you have to. Use whatever legitimate means to make your prospect comfortable with you. Create a I’ve been there done that scenario. Giving your reader a sense of familiarity will go a long way in building trust. Tell a true story about yourself that fits in with what you are trying to sell to bring a point across. The main focus in building credibility is to get the reader to relate to what you are saying.
Make what you are saying believable. Always tell the truth. Don’t ever say that a product does something that it doesn’t do. Whatever credibility that you have established will go out the window if you do. You can put a spin on what you are selling and make it sound like it is something that he or she can’t do without as long as you are being honest at the same time. Don’t say something that can’t possibly be true. Make it believable and more importantly, tell the truth.
As I said earlier in this article, web surfers are impulse buyers. This very fact really puts you in the drivers seat when it comes to selling online. If you can trigger an emotion or a desire in them you will be able to sell to them. There are a variety of ways to do this. If it’s a product that solves a problem or will make a hated chore easier, you can put a spin on this and put their emotions and desires into overdrive. It could be a product that saves the reader time or money. You must take the most important feature of your product whatever that may be and spin it in a way to evoke the readers emotions and wanted desires. The biggest thing that will stay in your readers mind is what is in it for me. Unless you tell them by working on their emotions and desires you will lose them. Don’t describe what a feature of your product does instead give the benefits of a particular feature. Here is an example of the right way and wrong way of triggering an emotion or desire in your reader.
I don’t think that I have to tell you which one gives a benefit of the product. The thing to understand is that people don’t care about features. They care about what the product will do for them. Make sure that you tell them.
Create a sense of urgency. This doesn’t have to mean that if the reader doesn’t buy now that the product may not be available at a later time. If there is truly a time limit or you are only selling a limited quantity, then that would be the best way to spin it. You would only spin it this way if it’s the truth. Always keep credibility in the forefront when writing your sales ad. If there is no time limit or a limited quantity to be sold, going back to the most important benefit and spinning that is the best way to go. Putting urgency on the most important benefit may sound something like this.
See where the urgency fits in? The above statement implies that if the reader continues to waste time he or she will lose money. If that doesn’t create a sense of urgency, I don’t know what will. Another idea may be to set the product at a lower price for a limited time or for a limited quantity. However you do it, put a mindset of buy it now in the readers mind.
Putting a time limit on the product falls in line with creating a sense of urgency because the time limit will put in the mind of the reader, if I don’t buy now, I may lose out. I separated the two because the seller may be selling someone else’s product and may not have the authority to do this. If it is your product this is a great way to close the deal right here and now or you will lose out on this great product. Time limits are generally put on high ticketed products. If you have a high ticketed item that is your own, putting a time limit on it is a great way to go.
Of course a call to action has to be placed in order to seal the deal. The call to action is simply a button or hyperlink that tells the reader that it’s time to buy. I like hyperlinks as a call to action and have found that having a hyperlink that says ‘click here to order now’ has worked the best for me. If your sales ad is long, you should put a call to action more than once in your ad copy. I always put a call to action after I have consciously triggered an emotion or desire. This is the place where people are most apt to buy if they are not going to read the whole ad copy but have already decided to buy.
Follow these guidelines and you will find that you have created a killer ad copy that will sell over and over for you.

It’s All In The List
I know that you’ve heard this expression over and over again when it comes to marketing on the Internet. While it is quite true, I believe that most marketers are missing something very crucial to the building of their optin lists. I believe that this very important point eludes most online marketers or they don’t want to do the extra work that is required. If they realized the added benefit, I believe that they would incorporate this into their list building strategy.
To me, it’s all in the content that matters the most. Without targeted quality content you will never have a list that will convert the way that it should. Adding content rich information to your website will give your visitors the feeling that they know and trust you because of the great content that you provided them on your website.
It seems that every website on the Internet has a squeeze page. If you want to see the content of the website you have to give your email address to see it. The problem with all of the squeeze pages that I’ve seen on the Internet is that the end user has no idea of what they are opting into. Most of the time what you end up with as the end user is a bunch of spam with no information at all and the website that you are taken to is usually just one big sales ad of obscure information. Unless you pay, you’ll never get the information that the squeeze page promises or you will get some ridiculous in a word or two answer to that promise.
In my opinion, this is not a good way to build a solid list. Tricking people into giving you their information will not gain trust nor will it convert many sales. The only thing that it will do is cause a mass opt out of your list. Supplying good information will get you a more targeted list and a list of loyal subscribers who will buy from you over and over again.

After reading this I’ll admit that I had my credit card out and was ready to buy this incredible opportunity. Then a little voice in my head told me to stop. This is too good to be true. I went to google and ran a search for company.com scam and low and behold a nice little list of forum posts came up with complaints that this is a scam and that they couldn’t get the refund that they were promised if they weren’t completely satisfied.
