The Google Adsense Program
It never occurred to me to explain how the Google adsense program works until I received a few emails from subscribers of this website asking for an explanation of how the Google adsense program works.
The Google adsense program is an offshoot of the Google adwords program. Actually, the Google adsense program could not exist without the Google adwords program.
It would be really difficult to explain the Google adsense program without explaining what the Google adwords program is.
In short, the Google adwords program is a pay per click advertising program. Pay per click is a method of advertising where the advertiser only pays for the ad when someone clicks on it. An advertiser will setup an ad based on keyword bids. The placement of the ad is dependent on what the advertiser bids on the keyword for the ad. The more that the advertiser bids for the keyword, the higher the bid, the higher the placement the ad will be on the google sponsored listings which are displayed to the right of the normal listings on the search results pages. There are other factors that also determine where an adwords ad is placed on Google’s search results pages. You can get more info here.
An advertiser will need to open an adwords account before he or she can use the adwords program. Here’s where an advertiser would need to go to signup.
The Google adsense program runs through what is called the Google content network which is a part of Google’s adwords program. Google’s content network is comprised of websites that display adwords ads.
If you have a website and wanted to display adsense ads on it, you would have to first signup for the Google adsense program and your website would have to be reviewed and accepted by Google before you can display adsense ads on your website. Once approved, you would then place a snippet of code on your website in order to display adsense ads on your website. Once your adsense ads goes live on your website, your website then becomes a part of Google’s content network.
The types of adsense ads that are displayed on websites are based on the content on that website. If a website is about computers, the adsense ads should display computer related ads. The main idea of the Google adsense program is that all ads that are displayed are targeted to the websites visitors interests.
When a visitor clicks on an adsense ad, the owner of the website where the ad is displayed gets paid a percentage of the advertisers bid.
This is just an overview of how the Google adsense program works. Hopefully, this has given you a better understanding of the Google adsense program. You can get more info on the Google adsense program here.

Free Internet Marketing Tool
Many Internet marketers seek free Internet marketing tools because they are either on a tight budget or simply don’t want to pay for a marketing tool that may or may not work.
Internet marketing tools come in many different forms. The most valuable free Internet marketing tools are those that provide good solid information that will help the marketer to better market his or her product.
I came across a great free Internet marketing tool in the form of information that teaches the basics of SEO. I can tell you that this is an excellent guide that teaches the same things that other SEO guides teach you for a price and claim that what you will learn is secret seo techniques to justify the cost.
If you are new to seo or even if you know seo, I’m sure that this free Internet marketing tool will teach you something. You can get the free internet marketing tool here.

StomperNet For a Buck
Let me start by saying that I am not an affiliate of StomperNet nor do I want to be. I’ve been getting spammed quite a bit with emails about StomperNet from various Gurus trying to separate me from my money.
StomperNet is a member website program that teaches you about search engine optimization, e-commerce, among other things in case you don’t know what StomperNet is. StomperNet is run by 2 Gurus Andy Jenkins and Brad Fallen and both are very knowledgeable where SEO is concerned.
StomperNet was first launched last year and was sold out almost immediately and if I remember correctly the cost was just under $10,000 to join. It was hyped big time by the biggest Internet Marketing Gurus with huge lists, which is probably why it sold out so quickly. I wonder how many people actually succeeded with it? They have testimonials of the people who did well with it but the big question is how many people didn’t do so well with it?
Anyway, they are reopening StomperNet tomorrow 5/10/07 at 12:00 PM Eastern standard time. You can try out the program for a month for a buck. So if you were wondering whether or not if StomperNet lives up to all of the hype you can find out for a buck.
It may be worth doing even if you can’t afford to pay the full price after the month is up because you may learn a lot in the month that you are there. It may be a great opportunity to learn from two of the best. According to the spam mail that I got, you get full access to everything for a month for just a dollar.
Let me be crystal clear, I am in no way affiliated with StomperNet and whether you join or not has no affect on me one way or the other. I just thought I’d tell everyone here that there is an affordable way for those who wanted to try it or couldn’t get in last year. I have no idea if StomperNet is any good or not.
Here’s the hyped sales page for anyone who is interested. http://www.internetpromoservices.com/stomper

Are You Thinking About Using a Search Engine Submission Service?
I am sure that you have seen the search engine submission services that offer to submit your website to thousands of search engines. If you are thinking about using a search engine submission service, don’t waste your time.
Since the main three search engines, Google, Yahoo, and MSN handle over 90% of all searches on the Internet paying someone to submit to any other search engine is a waste of time and money.
You don’t need to submit your site to any of the search engines in the first place because if you setup and optimize your website properly you will be found by the search engines. As a matter of fact, it is the preferred way of being indexed. The only submission that you have to make is to MSN and the only thing that you have to submit is the link to the main page of your website and MSN will do the rest. With Google and Yahoo you don’t need to submit at all.
These submission services also tell you that they will resubmit your website to the search engines monthly. Once your website is indexed the search engines will update your website automatically. There is no reason to do this again. You could be banned from the search engine for spamming or at the very least penalized with a worse position in the index.
What you should be submitting to is directories, article sites, and press release sites, along with updating the content on your website on a regular basis. That’s what will get you indexed and get you a better ranking on the search engine index. Good relevant back links and good updated content are the key ingredients to a good search engine position.
Every time that you add new content to your website or acquire relevant back links to your website will have the search engines crawling your website to check what changes have been made. The more you update the more prominent you will be on the search engines.
One other thing to stay away from is those services that guarantee a first page listing on the search engines. Sounds good on the surface but in reality it’s nothing but a scam. What these services do is select a set of non competitive keyword phrases that can get a first page listing easily. The problem with this is they use phrases that no one is searching for and often use phrases that aren’t relevant to your website. They count on your ignorance in search engine optimization. Anyone can list on the first page of Google for keyword phrases that no one uses.
Getting a good position for a quality keyword or keyword phrase on the search engines takes a lot of work and time. The key is that the more relevant Inlinks and content that you have, the more prominent your website will be on the search engines.

If you are doing this, you are promoting the wrong products
I think that so many Internet marketers are so fixated on digital or service related products such as software, ebooks, seo services, etc that they really don’t bother looking into physical products.
To start with most of these types of products are so saturated in the IM market it is almost impossible to find anything worth promoting that is potentially profitable. Have you run keyword searches for digital or service related products? If you have I’m guessing that you haven’t found much that will be profitable or isn’t super competitive.
There are a lot of gems out there when it comes to physical products because most people that do promote physical products are business owners promoting their own products. I can tell you that if you are an Internet marketer who is worth your salt you can blow these business owners out of the water because they don’t know crap about promoting their products online.
I have a couple of products that I have recently found that has very little competition that appears to be extremely profitable. I’m not going to tell you what they are at this time because I just started to promote them and I don’t have any real data at this time. From the early indications it looks like I’ll be able to get on the first page of Google in no time for my main keywords. It only took me 72 hours to get the website that I’m promoting this product on indexed.
If you are having the same problem that most Internet marketers are having of finding decent products and good keywords for those products promoting real physical products is definitely an easier game to play because the playing field is a lot more level and the supposed Gurus don’t seem to like playing on that field.
I can tell you from the research that I’ve done you can find some really nice keywords that are not very competitive at all.
Here’s the key. Find a bunch of physical products that you may consider promoting. It’s important that you find the product that you want to sell first because that’s what you want to build your website around. You will want the type of product that you promote in your domain name if possible as well.
Find a main product and build a niche around that product. For example: If you ran a search on chairs and recliner proved to be a good choice you could build your online business around recliners. Let me say before I go any further that I have no idea whether or not if recliner is a profitable choice or not because I haven’t checked to see if it is or not. I’m using this as an example and nothing else.
Here’s how to determine if a product choice is profitable or not. Run a keyword search with the yahoo keyword suggestion tool. In the above example you would run a search on chairs. You would look at the results that sit under the main keyword of chair and check to see if there is anything there that has a decent amount of searches. In our pretend search above we found that recliner has a decent amount of searches. Let’s pretend that we found 20,000 searches for this keyword.
The best thing to do when running a keyword search is to copy and past the results to a spreadsheet such as excel so that you can further analyze each keyword or keyword phrase result.
Ok. We’ve run our search and have found that recliner looks like it may be a good fit. To see how competitive and profitable the keyword recliner is we will run an allintitle search. Don’t worry, an allintitle search is a very simple process that takes less than a minute to run. Go to Google and type in allintitle:recliner
In our pretend allintitle search we find that recliner is found in the title on 5,000 website web pages. To determine how profitable and how competitive a keyword or keyword phrase is simply divide the search results by the allintitle search results to get your answer. In our recliner example you would take the 20,000 searches and divide it by the 5,000 allintitle searches which would give us a 4.
What we have done is ascertained the supply against the demand for our fictitious keyword search for recliner. In our search we found that the demand is 4-1 against the supply, which is an excellent ratio and a product that is well worth pursuing.
What our keyword search has told us is that there aren’t too many websites that we need to beat and that there are plenty of people out there who are looking for what we want to sell.
I’ve rambled on long enough with this. I’m certain that you get the idea. If you want to see real allintitle search results check out this post to get a better idea of what I’ve been talking about here. http://the-truth-about-internet-marketing.com/2007/03/30/the-all-important-allintitle

Google Webmaster Tools
If you are a webmaster and Internet marketer and don’t use Google’s webmaster tools you are missing out on a great resource that Google provides for free to all webmasters.
You do have to signup to use this resource. It takes less than a minute to do so. I am not going to go into too much detail of what features are included with Google webmaster tools. You can get that information yourself after you signup with Google.
The nice thing about Google webmaster tools is that you can run diagnostics to check for any potential problems with your website. You will need to verify your website in order to use this feature and any other features before you can start using the tools. This is all explained in Google’s webmaster member area.
If you don’t have a sitemap for your website you can create one using one of the webmaster tools. If you already have a sitemap you can submit it in the webmaster tools member area to ensure that Google crawls and indexes all of the web pages on your website.
Another nice relatively new feature that Google webmaster tools provides is a crawl rate report that tells you the number of pages that Google’s bot crawls a day. This is nice because it will tell you what pages Google is looking at and more importantly what pages they are not looking at which can tell you that there probably is a problem with the web pages that Google’s crawl robot is overlooking. This is an important feature because it will allow you to go back and revisit these pages and make whatever corrections that are necessary to get them indexed. The more web pages that get indexed on your website, will give people more ways of finding you.
Those are just a few features that Google webmaster tools provide for webmasters. There are many more. You can learn about them yourself after you have signed up for Google webmaster tools. You can find the signup page here. Click the Create a Google Account to signup.

Why you Need RSS
If your website doesn’t use RSS you really should consider setting up one for your website.
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication. Since you have a website, I assume that you want to get visitors to your website. An RSS feed will help you do just that. An RSS feed provides short descriptions of a website’s content. If you were to take a run over to technorati and run a search on anything you like, you will get a snippet of the most recent content for each website that is displayed.
Here’s the importance of using RSS to you. Every time that you update your website with new content or with whatever change that is made to your website, your RSS will announce to the world, including the search engines, that changes have been made and in return will send people to your website to check out those changes.
Bottom line, using RSS will help drive new, as well as returning traffic to your website. Another great benefit of having an RSS feed setup on your website is that when someone visits your site and if he or she likes the content on your website they can subscribe your feed via email or through a feed reader. This is a great benefit because you can bet that this person will be returning to your website sometime in the near future.
As we all know the more often people come back to our website the better the chance there is that they will buy something. The returning visitor’s come back because they trust you and see you as an authority on whatever it is you do and some of them will tell others about your website as well. There’s nothing better than word of mouth. It really gives you, and your website, credibility.
RSS is probably mostly responsible for the increasing number of blog sites popping up because they have RSS built right in. You don’t have to have a blog to run RSS on your website. Any website can use RSS. If you are interested in setting up an RSS feed on your website, you can use this form to help you set one up. http://www.webreference.com
One last thing that you need to understand about RSS, if you don’t have a lot of content on your website and you don’t intend to update it on a regular basis, RSS will not do you much good. Regularly updated websites are the sites that do the best with the search engines and in general for that matter. RSS will help you get the most out of your updated content.
In a nutshell, RSS will help get you noticed with the search engines along with your visitors.

How to Get Your Website Indexed Really Fast
It seems like a lot of people think that there is some deep secret to getting their website indexed on the major search engines really quick. Most think that there is something special that some do to get their websites indexed really fast. I can tell you it is really easy to do and there is nothing special to doing it at all. What course of action that you decide to take will greatly depend on how long it will take to get indexed with the major search engines.
The site that you are reading this post from took 11 days to get indexed on Google. You can do it faster than I did, but to me, the way I did it is the best. You will see why as I explain the options available to you.
The number one thing that you should not do is use the search engines add URL feature. It is better for the search engines to find you than the other way around. Filling out those submission forms is nothing but a waste of time in my opinion because you will do nothing but wait and probably get nowhere.
Here are the two best ways to get indexed really fast without having to go beg other webmasters with a high PR to link back to you. Unless you have something of value to offer, you probably won’t even get a response. Don’t waste your time with something like this. There are better ways.
Here’s what the search engines do to find websites. They will go to a website that is already in their index and follow the links on the website that they are looking at to see where they lead. If there is links on that website that lead to an outside source then the search engine will go to the website where that link takes them. This process is known as crawling.
You may be thinking why that is important to you. Well it’s very important because that’s exactly how the search engine is going to find your website when it crawls the already indexed website. The objective here is to get your website linked to the website that is already indexed which will result in getting your own website indexed.
The first way would be to link to a linking service. They are just what the name implies. They will link back to your website for a price. What you want to use are websites that have the highest page rank as possible. I wouldn’t link to anyone who has a page rank of less than seven. You only need to link to one site. Once you are linked to one of these sites you should be indexed with the major search engines within 72 hours. Sometimes within 24 hours. Link with them for one month only. You won’t need them after that. Below is a short list of linking services that you can check out to get a price of what it will cost you to get a link back from a website that has a page rank of 7 or better.
http://www.textlinkbrokers.com
www.text-link-ads.com
www.linkadage.com
One last thought about linking services. Try to find a website that is as closely related to the topic of your website as possible because it will carry a lot more weight with the search engines.
While using a linking service may be the easiest way to get indexed, it’s not the best way to go because it will cost you money to get indexed. If you want to get indexed within a couple of days it is probably your only option.
If you don’t mind doing a little work you will get your website indexed within a couple of weeks using this next method. This is what I used to get this website indexed with Google and the other search engines in just 11 days.
Write an article and submit it to a bunch of article sites. Make sure that you write about something that relates directly to the topic of your website. Your article does not have to be a literary masterpiece. It only needs to be informative and written in a legible way. If your website topic has an appeal to a certain group of people, it will have the same appeal in the form of an article as well.
Because most article sites are very highly ranked, you will get the same result as you would if you had linked back from a PR linking service. The search engine will treat that link back the same as they would PR linked sites. The only difference is, you won’t have to pay for that link.
The only reason that it takes a bit longer to get indexed using article sites is that your article will need to be reviewed and accepted before it will go live on the article site. Most will take from a week to ten days before your article will go live. Once your article goes live, it shouldn’t take more than a few days for your site to get indexed with the top search engines.
You’ll get an added benefit using article sites because article sites are there to give webmasters a place to get content for their websites. If your article is picked up and posted on other websites, you will get additional link backs to your website without having to do a thing on your part which will help you with your ranking once you are indexed.
Unless you are pressed to get your website indexed within a couple of days, submitting to article sites is the best option for the better benefits it will bring at no cost. The extra work is not that much. It only took me about an hour and a half to get it all in place. Considering what you get back from it is more than worth the extra time and effort.
The only search engine that you will need to submit to will be MSN because they require you to fill in a security code. The only thing that you will need to supply is the URL to your main website page. MSN will do the rest. Here’s the URL. http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx?FORM=SUNO
Below is a decent size list of article sites. Submit your article to all of them because many of them will have your article live within a few days. The faster your article goes live on as many sites as possible, the faster you will get indexed with the top search engines.
Good Luck!

New Free Wordtracker Keyword Search Tool
Wordtracker just launched a new keyword search tool. I read about it yesterday at http://seobook.com
With all the problems that marketers have had for the past several months with Yahoo’s keyword search tool, this is great news. The Yahoo tool has not worked at all for the past week which leads me to believe that Yahoo has no intention of fixing the problem.
People are talking about the new tool on other blogs and are all saying how quick the new search tool is. I tried it myself and it is a lot faster than the Yahoo tool was. Because the search tool was just launched, I would have to assume that many people are not aware of its existence yet. I’ll be interested in seeing how the keyword search tool performs when there are as many users using the tool as Yahoo had using their tool. I’ll withhold my opinion until then.
You can find the new wordtracker search tool here. http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com

Link Building
If you expect to get any traffic to your website you will need to get some incoming links. I read a really garbage SEO technique that tells you to run a search for your keywords to see who is ranked at the top of the search engines and then email the webmaster and ask him or her for a link. Now, let’s step into the real world shall we? There is no way a top ranked site is going to give a virtually unknown website an incoming link unless there is something really valuable in it for him or her. Begging for links is a waste of time unless you have something in return that you can offer.
There are top ranked sites out there that will give you an incoming link for a price. I don’t recommend this because it is very expensive and definitely not for anyone who is just starting out. I would stay away from using the pay for link back services because you could go broke very quickly. Besides, these are temporary links. Once you stop paying, your incoming link source will be gone anyway. What you want are permanent links.
There is a better way. There are actually a couple of really good ways to get incoming links. Before I tell you what they are you need to understand that you want quality incoming links. By quality, I mean that you want incoming links that are directly related to your website theme. If your website is real estate related, you want incoming links that relate to real estate.
As I said before, there are a couple of good ways to get quality incoming links to your website. The first is submitting articles to article sites. It’s a little more work writing articles but it is well worth the effort you put into it because these are really targeted high quality incoming links from websites that are highly ranked. The fact that article sites by nature, are very content rich, which is what the search engines are looking for, you will have really high quality incoming links from the article sites that you submit to. You don’t need to submit to a bunch of article sites because each article that you submit and is accepted will give you a new incoming link. You really don’t need to submit to more than a few. Just make sure that you submit your article under the correct category otherwise the incoming link will be useless because the search engines do look for link relevance. In the real estate example that I used above, you’d want to submit your articles under the real estate category. Before attempting to submit to any article sites read this post first. You will also get a list of the 3 best article sites that have worked the best for me.
http://the-truth-about-internet-marketing.com/category/articles
The second thing that you should do is start submitting your website to as many directories as you possibly can. Like the article sites the directories are listed by category as well. You would submit your website to the category that relates to what your website is about. The only thing that you will be submitting on directory sites is the link to your website. There are thousands of free directories on the Internet that you can submit to. Most of these directories have a paid version, and a free version. I’d use the free version because you want to submit to as many directories as possible and if you paid for each and every one of them, it would cost a fortune. How long it will take for your website to be accepted for inclusion depends on the directory that you are submitting to. Some will include your site immediately, to up to a month, while others can take several months to include you in their directory. Keep in mind that almost all directories will check your site to see if it is worthy of inclusion into their directory. Unless you have a really bad site or it is porn related or illegal, most directories will include you. Some directories are more picky about who they accept and you may be declined by a few. For the most part, you should be accepted.
So start building your incoming links because it is one of the most important parts of your SEO. Here’s a link to a list of directory sites. Keep in mind that some of these directories may not have a category that relates to your website. If that’s the case, move on to the ones that do. http://www.strongestlinks.com Some of these don’t have a free submission option. Skip over the ones that require payment. There are others that are conditional meaning that they require something in return such as linking back to them or becoming an editor. I’d skip those as well. Linking back to them really doesn’t do any good and you will have a link mess on your website. I would only submit to the directories that offer one way links. The above link sorts the directories with the free directories listed first.
One last comment; this is a lot of work and will require some time and a lot of dedication on your part. It is well worth doing this because this is the single best way to get your website noticed by humans and the search engines. You really should submit to both the article sites and directories.
