I know that I didn’t write a thing here in the month of August. I will be writing often from here on. The reason I didn’t post anything in August is because I’ve been busy updating a piece of software that I created about a year ago. The revisions should be completed in a month or so. After the news of the sale of ‘the Rich Jerk’ empire last week the Rich Jerk responds to the claims that he is selling his online business to avoid bankruptcy. He says on his blog that his business is not up for sale.

If what ‘the Rich Jerk’ says is true then why was it advertised for sale last week on BizQuest? The ad has since been removed. Sounds to me, like, ‘the Rich Jerk’ has something to hide.

He goes on with his usual trash talk saying how he is better than everyone else and that the rumors were spread by website owners to get traffic to their website. That’s not the case. The fact remains that his business was advertised for sale a week ago and today it is not there.

He went on to say that he was going to sue the big name marketers for putting the news of the sale on their websites. I don’t know what grounds he figures to sue on since his business was clearly advertised for sale.

Kelly Felix “the Rick Jerk” is selling his entire online business lock, stock and barrel. The Shoemoney Blog reports that he is selling his online empire to avoid bankruptcy.

I knew something was up with the ‘Rich Jerk’ because I always got an email from him without fail at least once a week and haven’t gotten one from him since February when he was peddling his RJ X-Ray software.

Included in the sale is his 2 offices one in Carlsbad, CA. and the other in Thousand Oaks, CA. and the ‘Rich Jerk’ name along with his three websites at:

I was surprised by the news since the ‘Rich Jerk’ has been doing late night informmercials and seemed to be doing well. I guess everything isn’t always as it seems.

Yesterday I posted the above title and simply posted the link to the article in question. If you were here yesterday you may have been scratching your head as to why a site like this one would post a link like this and wondering what it has to do with Internet Marketing. Actually it has nothing to do with Internet Marketing and at the same time has everything to do with it.

The intention was to grab everyone’s attention. The fact that a whopping 98% of my visitors yesterday clicked that link is very telling in itself, considering that the article in question is 2 years old is impressive enough but the fact that it attracted people to it from an unrelated website is even more impressive.

While the title has absolutely nothing to do with Internet marketing the response in itself has everything to do with it in that it created a great deal of curiosity.

Make people curious and you will get clicks even if it has nothing to do with your website. Create curiosity that is related to the topic of your website and you will convert those curious visitors to paying customers.

While the above title will not make any sales it is compelling enough to make people click to see what the deal is. I didn’t put it here to sell anything I put it here to prove a point. The point is, if your headline makes people curious, even if it has nothing to do with the topic on your website they will click on it.

The people who come to this website are looking for information related to Internet marketing. Imagine how well a well written curious headline would do if it was Internet marketing related?

A curious headline in itself will not covert your visitors to paying customers. You must give them a compelling answer to the headline in question that made them click in the first place or you will not convert them to sales.

We humans are very curious animals and are curious by nature. Use this natural tendency to your advantage and you will do well. Curiosity may have killed the cat but it can make an Internet Marketer rich.

You have a website and it now is starting to get some traffic. It has been a long grueling haul but finally some visitors are beginning to find you. Your number one priority is to make sure that they keep coming back by providing them with great information. Your number two priority should be how they are finding you.

It is very important that you know where your traffic is coming from so that you can keep growing that traffic. The more that you know about the origin of your traffic, the more traffic you will get.

The whole idea of evaluating the traffic to your website is to find whatever consistencies there are and build on those that you find. There is an absolute goldmine in doing this as it will allow you to build on what you already have many times over.

For example; let’s say that you suddenly have a big increase in traffic from the search engines. The first thing that you will want to check is to see what keywords are being used to find you. If you find that the majority of your new found traffic is coming from one or two keywords, or keyword phrases, you will want to make appropriate decisions as to how not only to keep that traffic coming but what changes are needed so that you can potentially increase the traffic that you are already getting.

Here are a couple of things that you might do to increase your traffic with the keywords that you find. The first thing that you would want to do is to make those keywords more prominent on your website by using them more often throughout your site. Add it to your title tag, description tag, and keywords tag, and more often in the body, if it’s not already in those places. Just don’t overdue it. Never use your keywords anymore than 3% of the time throughout your website. Anything more than that, will hurt your rankings with the search engines. If your website is a blog or forum writing something that relates directly to the keyword or keyword phrase will help boost your prominence in the search engines as well. You should be able to write quite a few different posts that will relate to the keywords that you find.

You may find that a big chunk of your traffic is coming from a particular blog or forum that you comment or post to. If that were the case, you certainly would want to go there more often and comment or post. However people are finding you, there is always a way to make it better so that you can get even more people to your website.

I have written about the traffic evaluation tool Statcounter before on this blog. If you already have it, start using it. If you don’t, get it. Statcounter works on all websites, including blogs. This is the best traffic evaluation tool that I know of. If you can think of it, statcounter can do it. If you don’t have statcounter, you can get it here. http://statcounter.com Don’t worry; I’m not trying to sell you anything. There is a free version as well as a pay version of statcounter. I recommend you go with the free version because you probably don’t need the pay version at this point in time. Down the road you may need it, but for now, chances are you don’t need it.

You will be amazed at what you will find when doing a quick ten minute traffic evaluation of your website. Since all websites are different and there is no clear cut answer to driving traffic to any, one, website, makes traffic evaluation essential.

It’s no secret that I really like using articles to promote my online businesses. The fact that this site got noticed from the very beginning is largely due to the fact that a lot of the promoting that I did was through articles that I submitted to various article sites.

I will tell you again, there are few better ways to promote a business than with article writing. The best part of promoting using an article site is that it is free and is in most cases better than any other type of submission service that you have to pay for. The results are generally far better.

When you submit an article and it is accepted it can be picked up by many other websites which will give you extra back links to your website without you having to do anything more than submit it in the first place. I submitted ten articles for this blog and submitted them to three different article sites. For about four hours work on my part those articles resulted in over 600 back links to this blog all for free. That’s where most of my initial traffic to this blog came from.

I’ve decided to expand my online existence by building a new online business that I think that you, my readers, will be interested in because of what I am willing to do to get it off the ground and moving in the right direction and will be very beneficial to anyone who takes advantage of it.

I have just completed building a new article site. The name of the new article site is Article Knowledgebase. I have populated the site with reprinted articles from various article sites so that I have some initial content for the early going.

I intend to submit a press release on the new article site within the next week to two weeks at the most. The thing about press releases is that they can do very well and be picked up by some big news sites or can flop and may not be picked up at all. It all depends on how well it’s written and how it is presented. I intend to make sure that it gets picked up by many news sites. I won’t release it until it is exactly right. My point is that after a good press release goes live all hell breaks loose and things get crazy. There are a number of things that will get an article rejected. Those are just a few. That’s why it is important to take me up on this while you can because I have never been rejected and all of my articles have done very well because I know exactly what to do to get the best results from every article that I submit.

I have never hyped any of my readers to this point and I’m not about to start now. The reason that I am doing this is I want to get as much original well written articles as I possibly can before the press release goes live. I can’t do that on my own. My helping you will in turn help me launch a better article site. It’s a win, win, deal. I get good information and you get an education on article writing.

Here’s a big reason to get your article submitted before the press release goes out. When the press release begins to attract people to the article site, and there will be many, you will have your article sitting there for everyone to see which will send them to your website if they like what you have to say in your article.

That means, no matter how many people submit after you do your article will be one of the first 5 on the front page of the article site. It will be there when the press release goes live which means that everyone who visits the site will see your article listed before anyone else’s.

I was asked this question not too long ago and I really couldn’t give much of an answer because I was very new to blogging. I remember when I installed wordpress on my server about a year ago and thinking what the heck, am I supposed to do with this thing. I had no idea what a blog was or what it was for. Needless to say I deleted wordpress and went back to my familiar html website where online life was easy to understand.

About 3 months ago I reinstalled wordpress back on my server and imported all of the information that I already had on my html based website into my new blog website. One thing that I had to my advantage that most people don’t have starting out was quite a bit of content. Most start with nothing and have to build their blogs from scratch. I only needed to pick up where I had left off. That’s a big advantage considering that a blog is a content based website.

A blog can be a very powerful marketing tool and there are quite a few things that happen with a blog that I would never have expected in the beginning. Here’s the biggest value that I found in having a blog and the advantage it provides

The biggest thing that I’ve noticed is that I’ve gotten quite a bit of traffic from the search engines for unintended keyword phrases. For example, I have been found on Google for the keyword ‘paidsurveyprogram’. That’s not a misspelling. That’s how the keyword was searched. The funny thing about it is that I have been found many times from different search engines for this exact keyword. The thing is that I have never written, nor do I promote anything about paid survey programs on this blog. I was found because one of my readers commented about a survey program that she had to pay for. That is the only reference to pay survey program on this blog. Google found me through that keyword because someone simply commented about it.

I wrote a nothing post about the fall of the gurus manual and it certainly wasn’t one of my better posts but I am found through all of the major, and smaller, search engines for the keyword phrase, ‘fall of the gurus’. I have gotten hundreds of clicks with that one keyword phrase which was not my intention when I wrote that post.

You may be thinking that those are not targeted clicks. I thought that myself, at first. I have changed my mind on that because while those keywords have nothing to do with the content on this blog it did drive a lot of people who do want to learn about marketing on the Internet. I know that because many of those clicks stayed here for long periods of time and many come back over and over again. While neither of those keywords is targeted, the results are the same as if they were. There have been many other instances as well. The two that I mention here are the most prominent.

Commenting on other blogs is not only a great way to get incoming links to your own blog, it’s also a great way to make some contacts with other like minded bloggers that in return can get your blog mentioned on their blog not to mention the traffic that it will drive to you as well.

I could go on about this forever but I think you get the idea. The bottom line is, the biggest value of a blog is that it is a mean, lean, content driven, traffic machine.

It’s nice to see that Microsoft is getting its due. I for one am glad that someone has taken from Microsoft for a change instead of the other way around.

I remember the release of MS Dos 6.0 that had Symantec’s defragger included in the software release. I originally thought that Microsoft and Symantec had an agreement since Microsoft never bothered to remove Symantec’s name from the software or change the name of the defragger.

It wasn’t until Symantec sued Microsoft for copyright infringement that I realized that Microsoft had ripped off Symantec.

I guess the bigger, and more powerful companies get, the more they figure they can get away with. With all of the money and power the two companies have, I guess they can. What’s a few million dollars to these two business giant’s? Bottom line, what goes around comes around. It finally has come around for Microsoft and Bill Gates.
