Affiliates Offering Rebates

I’ve seen an affiliate tactic that offers the perspective buyer a rebate if they buy from the advertised affiliate link. The buyer is told that the rebate offer is only available if he or she buys from the provided affiliate link.

Here’s how it works. The buyer would purchase the product from the affiliate link. If the buyer doesn’t request a refund after a certain period of time, (usually after the refund guarantee expires) the buyer can then redeem their rebate. Most of the offers that I have seen require you to redeem the rebate within 30 days from the first day after the refund guarantee has expired. If the refund guarantee were for 60 days, the rebate offer would begin on day 61 and expire after day 90.

I’ve seen rebate offers that will give you a 100% rebate. You may be asking yourself, how can the affiliate make money if the affiliate marketer gives back 100% of the profits. The answer is quite simple. Most people end up forgetting about the rebate and never redeem it or don’t remember until after the rebate has expired. Only about 20% of the buyers will redeem the offered rebate, which is what the affiliate marketer is counting on. By offering a 100% rebate, the affiliate will make a lot more sales than he or she normally would. Giving back a 100% rebate to 20% of the people who purchase the product is well worth what the affiliate marketer will make in additional sales.

Rebate offers for digital products began to pop up in the middle of 2005. The first to do it is a well-known guru that I will not mention here because I don’t have permission to do so. To say the least, that guru made a killing using this strategy because it was the first time that it had been done with a digital product. Today, you see this idea being used all over the net.

While I don’t see anything wrong with doing this, be aware, that many affiliate site owners don’t allow their affiliates to do this. Affiliates that use the clickbank system are not supposed to use rebate offers to make sales. I know for a fact that many clickbank users are in fact doing this. Clickbank has really cracked down on this practice. It’s not a good idea to use the rebate strategy if it is not allowed in the affiliate program that you are involved with. They could ban you and even worse, not pay you for the affiliate sales that you have made.

If you are going to offer rebates to make affiliate sales, make sure to read the affiliate site’s policy to make sure that it doesn’t say somewhere that this is not allowed. Below is clickbank’s policy on offering rebates. Check your affiliate site’s policy to make sure that there isn’t something similar written in it before going out and offering a rebate.

You agree to make no such promotions promising customers rebates, coupons, tickets, or vouchers in connection with their ClickBank purchase.

If the product is your own, then there will of course, be no problem. I myself, think that this is a great idea just as long as the affiliate site owner allows it.

Doing Product Reviews To Make Affiliate Sales

The first thing to realize and understand is that most people are afraid of getting ripped off buying products online. I’m sure that you’ve been to a review site or two and have read the supposed unbiased opinion of the website reviewer. The website will have reviews of products to stay away from and the ones that are the safest to buy.

These review sites are far from being unbiased. This is a marketing strategy that the review site owner uses to sell his or her affiliate products. Generally you will get a rating of the good products and the most expensive is the one that almost always wins out because the more expensive the product, the more money that the review affiliate will make in commission when he or she makes a sale. Many times, but not always, the reviewer will be an affiliate of all of the good products reviewed. Some review sites, will throw in products that he or she is not involved in appear unbiased.

I know that you may think that this type of strategy is unethical, but I disagree. To me, if the reviewer truly believes that the product he or she is selling is of high quality and does what it claims it does, I see nothing wrong with it. Keep in mind the visitor came to the review site to get a second opinion. The final decision to buy is still solely on the visitor. On the other hand, if the reviewer has never used the product or has no idea if the product does anything that it claims it does, then it is unethical to even have an opinion about the product one way or the other let alone, review it.

I think that this is a great strategy for an affiliate marketer to use because he or she is telling the visitor about the product without having to resort to using a lot of hype. The affiliate gives the visitor an opinion, which is what he or she came for in the first place and hopefully have made their visitor more comfortable and more importantly has helped the visitor make a positive decision to buy.

If you are having trouble selling your affiliate products, you may want to try selling using the review strategy to help you convert your affiliate products. Don’t make false claims. Be a true authority of the products that you review by using, and knowing them well. Give this a try and I think that you will find that it will be a lot easier to convert your affiliate products to sales.

Affiliate Marketing May be a Good Option

Affiliate marketing in a nutshell is a person who sells other peoples products. Generally the affiliate will get a 50% to 75% commission on each sale that he or she makes. The nice thing about becoming an affiliate marketer is that the burden is on the seller and not the affiliate. You don’t need to have a merchant account because the seller provides the means to make payments when a sale is made.

Here’s how it works. When you signup for an affiliate program you are given an id that is uniquely yours. This id can be added to a text link or to an image such as a banner. When a prospective buyer clicks on your text link or image link and purchases the product you will get paid a commission for the sale. The transaction of the sale will be made using the seller’s merchant account.

Most affiliate programs will provide a sales letter for you to promote their product with. I don’t suggest that you use the provided sales letter because it will be used by many other affiliates selling the same product. It is better to write a unique sales letter of your own because it is fresh ad copy that will convert far better than a stale ad copy.

Some affiliate programs will provide you with a website as well. The majority of them do not. If you don’t have a website and don’t want to set one up at this point you’ll want to join one that does provide a means for you to sell their product online.

You may want to head over to clickbank marketplace. They have a huge list of affiliate sellers listed from most popular on down. You should be able to find something there that will appeal to you. Here’s the clickbank address.

Affiliate marketing can be a good way to go if you don’t have a product to sell or if you are just starting out in Internet marketing and want to start selling right away.

Affiliate Marketer’s Know Your Product

I have received such a rash of spam lately that it is almost impossible to keep up with it. Most of the spam has been from marketers who sell other people’s products. (more commonly known as an affiliate marketer)

It never fails to amaze me how little that they know about the product that they are selling. An Internet Marketing Guru recently told me in an email that most affiliates market products that they themselves have never used. The first thing that comes to my mind is, how can they market a product that they know absolutely nothing about?

These affiliates use a prewritten ad copy to sell these products. The problem with this is that everyone else is using the same ad copy. How can the affiliate expect to make any sales with everyone else doing the exact same thing as he or she is doing? Their inexperience really shines through in this case. That’s why they end up spamming people because they don’t know what else to do. The only result that spamming will get them is banned from the affiliate program for life.

If you are selling a product for someone else you should at the very least know what you are selling. That requires either buying the product or ask the owner of the product to send it to you so that you can get acquainted with the product. If the owner feels that it’s to his or her benefit they may send it to you for free. If not, buy the product and learn everything about that product. The initial cost will pay you many times over with the knowledge that you gain about the product.

Be different from everyone else. Write your own ad copy that is uniquely you. Don’t do what everyone else is doing. If you know the product you will have a huge advantage over most of the affiliate marketers who are selling the same product as you are but are doing the same things that everyone else is doing. That’s what separates the super affiliates from everyone else. They know the product and they know the best way to market the product because of it.
