Day Job Killer Takes a Nosedive

I was just over at clickbank and found that day job killer dropped from the number one spot on clickbank all the way down to number 13.

I guess most have now realized that DJK doesn’t live up to all of the hype after all. I predicted this back when this thing was the hottest selling digital product on the net.

Today you can find so many negative things written about DJK which is what is probably keeping people away from it. I said in this post that day job killer was nothing but a piece of garbage and people would come to realize this sometime in the near future.

The fact that day job killer has dropped all the way down to 13th implies that that day has come for djk.

If you have never heard of day job killer or what it’s about read the post linked above or you can go their pitch page here http://www.dayjobkiller.com. Don’t buy into it or buy it because it is nothing but a bunch of smoke and mirrors and none of Chis McNeeney’s claims are true.

The unfortunate thing about it is that I’m sure Chris McNeeney made millions on this thing before people started to wise up about the product. It’s unfortunate that so many spent their hard earned money on this thing. The very fact that the product dropped all the way down to 13th is pretty telling.

To me, the worst thing about the day job killer ebook is that the original $77 selling price went to $197 in a matter of weeks and is still selling at that price. How can a product that costs $77 dollars one day, be worth $197 the next day? As far as I’m concerned no ebook is worth that kind of money. Increasing the price of a garbage product won’t add value to it.

The only thing that puts a smile on my face is that Chris McNeeney left his download page wide open and I’m sure that a lot of people have downloaded day job killer for free. I won’t give you the link to the download page because it is unethical to do so. I’m sure if you do some searching you will be able to find it on your own.

Interesting how you can equate a drop in the standings to DJK not living up to the hype. Do you honestly think that any product, even those that fully exceed the hype bestowed upon it, can stay in the top position forever? So by your logic, John Reese’s Traffic Secrets set the record at the time for the most lucrative single day in IM history, then proceeded to make less and less money as the days wore on, meaning that it must not have lived up to the hype. It’s taken a nosedive in sales, meaning that people must have realized what a crappy product it was. Please!

Maybe you’re right about DJK not being worth the money being charged for it. Most IM products are grossly overpriced regardless of the author or content. But to suggest that people “woke up” to DJK’s crappy content does not, by itself, account for a drop in ranking. Nor does a drop in ranking necessarily mean that DJK’s content is crap.

I’m sure you’re wondering what I personally think about DJK. Truth is, it doesn’t matter. For all the negative reviews you’ve seen, I’ve seen positive ones. Your conclusions are flawed and your assumptions are faulty.

    Hi Paul,

Thanks for your point of view. I call DJK a piece of garbage because I’ve read it and most of it is a bunch of made up crap that I know Chris himself never used. That e-book was written to take the money from unsuspecting marketers who would do anything to get a marketing edge and is how day job killer was promoted by Chris and his hand picked affiliates from the very beginning. I don’t know whether or not you have read the e-book or how much knowledge you have in IM or PPC marketing but if you have any of either, I think that you would have to agree with my assessment of DJK.

The very fact that it was hyped to go after all of the Gurus is pretty telling in itself given the fact that every big named Guru was marketing the thing which I find very interesting because it was hyped in a way to piss off the Gurus. The thing had scam written all over it from the very start.

As far as djk falling to 13th, I’ll have to disagree with you on that one. Considering that the Ultimate Wealth Package and the Rich Jerk has been around for at least 2 years now and they sit 2nd and 6th respectively on clickbank should tell you something. The fact that after just a couple of months, djk dropped off the radar at clickbank is very telling in itself. If a product is good and truly helps people it is not going to go anywhere for a long time. I’ll guarantee every positive review that you see about DJK has an affiliate link somewhere in that review. I wouldn’t call that exactly unbiased would you?

Nice to have an intelligent discussion versus the flame wars that always start over these types of reviews.

I’m of the school of thought that one new idea implemented from an ebook that creates a profit is money well spent. I don’t buy into the hype of these IM products — I try to read between the lines, see what it purports to offer, and determine if it is in line with my business plan. That being said, I think the Leveller Part 2 is a pretty nifty trick and has more than paid for my investment in DJK.

Along the same lines, I try to read between the lines of “reviews” to see if there is any real value in them. Most, as you say, are hyped-up drivel written by people who have never laid eyes on the actual product they’re promoting. On the other hand, there are those who have legitimate positive reviews. Yes, they have affiliate links, but as I recall, you yourself have an “honest,” “unbiased,” and “positive” review of Beating Adwords, to which you have an affiliate link. So does that discount your review of Beating Adwords?

Besides, even the negative reviews of DJK and other IM products also contain affiliate links, which, by your argument, dilutes the veracity of those reviews as well. Maybe those negative reviews are

Ironically, your Beating Adwords vs. DJK review has the markings of Leveller Part 1, which involves bashing one product to earn trust while promoting another. I’m fairly certain it wasn’t your intent to implement Leveller Part 1 when you wrote the review because it’s not a verbatim implementation, but it’s a provocative observation nonetheless.

Regarding Rich Jerk, that definitely is a good read and a fantastic guide, so combined with brilliant marketing, is understandable that it enjoys such success. Regarding Ultimate Wealth Package, I’ve never seen it, but from what I hear, is not very good. Perhaps it enjoys its success from brilliant marketing of its own and not the merits of its contents. I couldn’t say for sure. IMHO, Clickbank rankings aren’t the best indication of a product’s quality, just as the New York Times Bestseller list isn’t the best indicator of the quality of a book or author. Kevin Trudeau, anyone?

    Hi Paul,

You don’t have to worry about getting into a review war with me. It’s not my style. Since this is my blog doing so would be unprofessional on my part.

As far as the leveler goes, that is a well known strategy that advertisers have used long before Chris McNeeney and day job killer or affiliate project x ever appeared. It has been used for years long before the Internet and Internet marketing.

Just look at any coke or pepsi commercial where one tries to discredit the other. This is a common marketing strategy that has been used forever. Chris just put a name on it and called it his own. There is nothing new about the leveler that marketers haven’t been doing for years.

With that said, I’ve been marketing online for a long time and have used this strategy long before Chris’s leveler. While my affiliate link is on that review it is my honest opinion of the two products. I have read them both and can say with all honesty and belief that the strategies in DJK will lose most people money.

The Ultimate Wealth Package is a good product that is geared more toward people who want to learn marketing and is really not for people who already have a good understanding of the process. The negative reviews that you have seen about it is probably from people that were disappointed by it because of how basic it is. It is a really good guide for newbies though.

DJK got to the top of clickbank because Chris had quite a few big named marketers with huge lists promoting it for him. The fact that DJK continues to slip in the listings at clickbank is a good enough barometer for me that it is losing a lot of steam which tells me the thing is losing its creditability. Clickbank may not be the best barometer but it is still a good enough indication that people have lost faith in DJK very quickly considering all of the backing that DJK had at launch.

In my mind the nuking strategy is the most ridiculous and dangerous thing that I have ever read. You’ve got to figure that the person who is sitting at the top of the ppc listings for a long time are there because he or she knows what they are doing. You’d really have to know what you are doing and have a better understanding of the adwords system than the competitor that you are trying to knock off. Even if you were to succeed it will cost you a lot of money that you may never be able to recoup. A fair amount of people who are ignorant of the adwords system will and probably have tried this strategy and have lost some serious money with it. The claim that DJK is for newbies is totally false in my opinion.

It’s nice to have a debate with someone who is knowledgeable instead of the usual IM sucks and I can’t make any money online. Thanks for your comments.

IM sucks and I can’t make any money online!!! ;-)

Yes, I agree that these techniques have been around long before Al Gore invented the internet :sarcasm:. After all, 95% of IM-related products rehash the same tried-and-true tactics through the ages, differentiated only by the author’s particular style. I just found the irony that the very techniques outlined in the very book that the review was discrediting was humorous — much in the way Sideshow Bob used television to announce his plans for the destruction of television. And yes, I am fully aware that you weren’t using it because it was outlined in DJK, but rather in spite of it.

My entire point is that the drop in ranking doesn’t necessarily equate to an industry-wide wake-up call, while yours, in this particular case, is that it does. I’m no IM industry expert, so you may ultimately be more informed than I on these matters, but I came to my conclusion from the surface of your blog entry. Looks like we’ll just have to shake hands and move along.

FWIW, the best books I’ve read on Adwords and Affiliate Marketing are Adwords Black Book and Affiliate Project X, respectively.

Thanks for a rational and spirited exchange, I rather enjoyed it!

    PB
