Day Job Killer is a Joke!
I just got finished reading Day Job Killer and all I can say is WOW! I don’t mean that in a good way. I know that I said that I wasn’t going to buy this but I just couldn’t resist. I had to see for myself what all the noise was about and whether it is as good as everyone says it is.
This ebook is an insult to every legitimate Internet Marketer.
The strategies in that ebook are some really dark black hat strategies. Actually the strategies in Day Job Killer give normal black hat a bad name.
I can’t tell you what the strategies are in that ebook because of copyright infringement problems that I would have if I did. I can tell you that this ebook is not cracked up to what it claims to be.
The ebook is very poorly written with so many spelling errors that at times you have a hard time figuring out what some of the words are. The layouts of the strategies really suck and are unlike what the author and his affiliates claim and are very hard to understand. There is not enough detail for any one strategy which makes them very difficult to understand and I’m sure even more difficult to implement. For the most part I had to read them several times to get any kind of understanding at all.
If you are new to pay per click it will be impossible to succeed with the Day Job Killer strategies. Even if you are a seasoned pay per click marketer I guarantee that it will take a lot more work and improving on any given strategy to make any of those strategies work. It makes me shudder with anger every time I think of the claim that Day Job Killer was written for the every day marketing Joe!
Even if you do completely understand the strategies in this ebook I urge you to stay clear of this because I can tell you with almost certainty that it will cost you more in ppc advertising than you can afford or will ever get in return. The shame of it is a lot of get rich quick naive newbies are going to jump on this and run with it and not realize what has happened to them until it’s too late and they are broke.
While I can’t tell you how to do any particular strategy, I can tell you about one, and what it is supposed to do. I remember this particular idea because it infuriated me so much that I wanted to put my fist through my monitor. What it claims to do is to knock off a successful ad campaign that has been running for a long time. In other words make that marketer take his campaign and run for the hills to never be seen again.
I can’t even imagine doing something like this. That PPC marketer got there by probably testing his or her ad and probably has spent a lot of time, money, and effort to get there and then some snake comes along and destroys everything that he or she has worked for. I highly doubt that this works. What infuriated me about the whole thing is that it is being taught in that ebook and there will be a fair percentage of people out there trying it and a few will succeed. Most will fail miserably.
These types of black hat strategies run well for awhile until the search engines put a stop to them and then they die just as fast as they were born. There’s a lot of work involved in getting something like this going and you will have lost a lot of time not to mention all of the work you put into it when the search engines slam the door shut on these tactics. If you haven’t made the money that you wanted to make when this happens, what will you do then? Will you wait for the next fad that comes your way and jump on that too and hope that you’ll do better this time around? If that’s the case, expect to be right where you are right now; a place where you just spin your wheels in the mud.
Black hat marketing hurts everyone, not just the black hat marketers. Crap like this doesn’t serve any purpose except to drive up the already expensive marketing costs to do business online. With crap like this going on all of the time, I am absolutely amazed that people trust enough to buy anything at all online.
In my opinion, the only people who are going to make money with Day Job Killer are the owner of the ebook and the affiliates who were involved with its launch. The rest will lose their shirts.
I guess you have to ask yourself this question. Are you marketing to build a long term online business or are you in it to get rich quick? If you are in it to build a long term business, stick with what you have been doing because you will be get there far sooner than the get rich quick guys out there and you will be far and away more successful. If you are the latter, expect to be exactly where you are right now, but a lot poorer. Comparing Beating Adwords and Day Job Killer
SOOOOooooo glad you posted this - I was considering buying this one. Thanks for saving me $77!!!!!
I think you hit it on the head when you said the only people making any money with this are the author and its affiliates. I know a guy who ran a PPC campaign for this book and he said he made a *killing*! He said he did feel a little bad because it really wasn’t that good, but money speaks pretty loudly for some I guess.
Thanks for the good tip. I hope more people stay away from this book.
Yeah, I’m sure that he’s crying all the way to the bank. Crap like this really pisses me off.
Wendy, I’m glad that you have decided not to buy DJK. That’s a wise decision.
Hey Brian,
Thanks for being one of the few to give a realistic and honest review of DJK - what are the odds that many of those ‘gurus’ who are pushing this to their email lists haven’t even read the thing?!
For another honest review of DJK check out: http://www.theinternetmarketingblog.org/2007/02/07/day-job-killer-review/
Surprised to see you advertising Aff Project X and the Rich Jerk though as I heard that they were similar to DJK??
http://www.ericstips.com/tips/affiliate-project-x-reviewed-full-of-hype-or-help/
Peace.
The 2 products I promote on this site are nothing like djk in that they don’t suggest that you knock off the other guy and the strategies make a hell of a lot more sense. There are a lot of workable strategies in both.
I will be taking down Affiliate Project X in the very near future (probably tonight) not because it’s not any good but because I don’t want to attach my name to anything that they sell.
If you take a closer look at the site from the first link that you supplied you will notice that the blog owner has an affiliate link to DJK and he sells both adwords miracle and Affiliate Project X. That post isn’t as unbiased as it appears to be.
The second URL is the same. While he is writing a supposed honest review on affiliate project x, he supplies a link to his affiliate project x landing page that has a link with his affiliate id. That link is provided throughout his review page.
I see nothing honest about either one of those reviews.
I do agree that the guru’s that are pushing this thing have ever read it. They do a little research (very little) and go out and push it on unsuspecting marketers.
Thanks for the comment
Hey Brian-
Thanks for coming to MY BLOG and leaving your bullshit unasked for SPAM. I just wanted to invite everyone to read MY take on Day Job Killer at http://theaffiliatebusinessreview.com/djk
I think you will find it much different than this review. I mean did you actually BUY the thing and Review it LIKE I DID??
Thanks for reading, and Have A Nice Day!
Gman
Exactly what spam are you talking about? I just went to the site that you linked to above and found no place to comment or to track back to. All I found was some very short reviews and a bunch of newsletter sign-up forms. There isn’t any place that I can see where you can comment or trackback to your site.
So my question is, how could have I spammed your blog? Are you talking about a different blog site other than the one that you linked to above?
I only read blogs that I have in my feed reader and post to those blogs and I can tell you that you are not in there. I had never been to your blog before today. I wouldn’t have known about it if you hadn’t posted here.
Yes I did read the ebook and if you read it like you claim you did you’d know that my post is right on the money. Your review is so similar to the hype on the DJK sales letter makes me question whether you ever purchased DJK. I know that I am on an island right now with all the hype going on with DJK. Let’s see where I am in a month or so. I am betting that there will be more and more reviews popping up similar to the one here.
One last thing. I don’t mind anyone disagreeing with me on any given topic however, I do expect a level of respect and intelligence. Your post contains neither. What I don’t understand is if you wanted to give a different point of view why you didn’t just say that you disagree and drop your link in your post? I don’t have a problem with people linking back to their own website. Why all the trash talk? I do find it very interesting that you registered to this blog. What was your thought process on that one?
Save your ghetto talk for your own blog. I’ve edited your post and took out the smut words. If you make any other comments using language similar to what was in your comment above, I will have no choice but to black list you from posting to this site.
Hey Brian,
I’m the author of one of the reviews Urban Hermit linked to (the first one). I just wanted to point out that, while I do recommend APX and AdWords Miracle, it is because I honestly thought they were good. AWM helped me out because it was my introduction to affiliate marketing, and APX had some helpful tips that I was able to work into my own strategies.
I did not like DJK, and the review is as honest as I could make it. I included an affiliate link because, if someone wants to buy it despite reading bad reviews of it, I might as well give them the option. I mean, it’s still a referral (and you’ll notice I recommended buying through my link only if you’re feeling charitable; I first recommended that you buy it and get a refund, or buy through your own link).
Ryan.
Point taken. Your review was well written and seemed unbiased. What caught my eye and made me a bit suspicious is that you put your affiliate link in that review. I understand why you did but don’t you think that others reading that review may get the same impression that I did?
That’s all I was trying to point out. I’m in no way trying to slam you or your review.
I can’t comment on adwords miracle because I have never read it. I agree that APX is a very good ebook that is well written and has a lot of great strategies in it. Because of DJK and the fallout that will come in the near future I have decided to stop promoting it. I don’t want to attach my name to anything that involves Chris McNeeney. APX is a good read and if anyone wants to get an ebook that will help them market in affiliate programs and PPC advertising they should get APX rather than DJK.
Thanks for your comment.
You know, you’re right about that. I should clarify exactly why I have my affiliate link in there. As I just heard someone else say when asked why he’d throw up an affiliate link for a product he was slamming, “If someone’s going to buy it anyway, why the hell not?”
I’m going to throw a link to your site up on my blog. I’ve read through a few posts and yours is one of the few blogs I’ve come across that does what I’ve been trying to do, which is to offer genuine help to people who want to learn about this stuff.
Brian,
Check this out. The author of DJK actually left a comment at my DJK review. He basically said that I should try the techniques out and then post back with an impartial report. After I expanded a little more on why I didn’t like DJK, I challenged him to let me try the techniques on his dime. If his techniques do work, this would prove it. I kind of doubt he’ll post back, but maybe. We’ll see.
Hi Brian and everyone else posting. I came across this page as I was trying to find a review like most people that wasn’t pushing the DJK band wagon. I came into the world of internet marketing 6 months ago and I am finding it to be much harder than I thought even though I am not impartial to a hard days work. I am glad I came across this page and found someone willing to go against the herd and honestly say that they don’t recommend DJK. The part I find most frustrating about internet marketing is that I have not come across one person who is willing to put up a page that explains how to best go about marketing products and not just some B.S testimonials and someone obviously just selling B.S to make money as an affiliate. Please correct me if Im wrong and please point me in the direction of the light if you think my words sound too dark but I am beginning to think that the only people who make money are those willing to lie to make money. I would really like to know your opinion and whether it is worth me sticking in this game. If someone honestly said this is how it is done but it will take you months to do, I would do it and promote their name until the cows come home because when I do crack it I am going to let people know for free to get them started, not claim to have written an e-book that really can help you succeed and only laugh all the way to the bank. I have lost my faith, help me find it!
Brialee,
There really are people out there who make money online and they’ve done it in an honest way.
Since you didn’t give the URL to your website I can’t look at it and give you an opinion. Regardless of what you have been told IM is hard work and it takes time before see any real results.
If you want some info on how to get going click the first link on the sidebar of this site. There’s a walkthrough of the things that you should be doing in the beginning to get your online business off the ground and going in the right direction.
The info there is free and you are not required to signup for anything, or buy anything.
All websites are not about hype. There are many out there, including mine, that are loaded with good helpful information on the subject.
Of course what you get from IM largely depends on how motivated you are and whether you are willing to put some real work into it. You’ll get out of IM what you put into it.
The walk through that I mentioned earlier is a real good place to start. Keep in mind while you read it that you will be expected to put in a lot of work.
If you want to get some traffic to your website, article writing is one the best ways to do it. Read this post that I wrote a while back. http://the-truth-about-internet-marketing.com/2006/12/21/article-writing
Ryan,
Just read it.
I’m sure that he will give you a shot at it for free.
I feel a bit slighted since my link was given on scam.com as well.
Maybe Chris figured that there would be no reasoning with me about DJK. Actually, he’d be right if that were the case.
Hi Guys and Gals.
My Name Is Jason in Jan. I too bought into Project-x. I thought by looking under scam reviews I would not find yet another scam. I thought I should find the unluckiest Guy out there that finnally wasted all of his money finding the sure thing.Well I found Danny,or Should I say Mark Warren.Im not really sure who they are but I fell for it.Free website bla bla bla.what I got was weeks of migraines and frustration trying to communicate with People whom speak so little English I was lost from the beginning.I also have found that another affiliate is getting paid directly from my website sales. What a joke.I contacted the web hosting service to get answers,I was told to contact Mr.Mark Warren.whom doesnt have a legitimate e-mail,nor does Danny.however I recieve hourly e-mails from them both trying to get me to purchase the scam Ive allready bought not to mention all of the other scams “****AFFILIATESITE” is pushing,as well as DJK.I even got an e-mail 20 mins.after I purchased from “Dannys”Scam Reviews.Boasting his jealousy someone named chris, then another identical e-mail stating James is making more money than us filling in simple surveys.ie paidsurveyprogram.com whom I also bought into.I have yet to get an e-mail with a survey that gave me anything more than a headache.Im going to bail on all of these today.I dont what my next plan is I have invested $166.00 to Pro-x,$200.00 to ppc’s that returned nothing and a campaign with E visions Marketing @ $112.00.I think the only good I have found in all of this is E Vision and their dedication. And a valuable lesson.Any HONESTY in programs that do work I’m willing to listen.
Hi Jason,
Stay away from surveys that require a fee. They are always scams. Legitimate survey sites don’t make you pay. Doing surveys generally doesn’t pay enough to make it worth the time and effort. Also stay away from data entry programs as well because they too are nothing but scams.
Before you spend any more money on money making products do some research on how to market. There are sites out there that do give good advice and will tell you what you need to do and what it takes to make money online.
You can start here. There is plenty of info here that will help you get started and it won’t cost you anything. Sites that give info for free will give you the information that you need because they have no reason to hype anything.
Last, sites that hype up a product is a tell tale sign that it’s a scam. I generally stay away from these types of things. Because Affiliate Project X was so good I figured DJK would be as well. Both ebooks were written by the same person.
For more info on paid survey programs and why they are nothing but scams read this
Hello, thanks so much for this review. I was tempted to buy DJK because I have recently invested in some Affiliate websites. I’ve only been involved in affiliate marketing for a couple of weeks…,not making anything yet, but learning a lot. (My website above is just a website that I built myself, not affiliate marketing.) Seems to me that there is so much hype, and I’m hoping that I made wise decisions on the sites that I’ve gotten involved with. Glad to see that you advertise SEOElite. Thanks for helping us newbies! I think I just saved $97
Thanks!
Hi
I had a chance to see the product on the laptop of a fellow passenger. I read it end to end and it is very good. The stratigies are good and they should work well to the end. Since I do not have the product, just read it, I can tell the gut feel.
It is your choice to buy or not to.
regards
Prasaad
[…] Then I ran across this over at Brian’s blog, The Truth About Internet Marketing. He trashed the thing. […]
Hi Friends
I am entering here for the first time. I read through the reviews and other comments by all of you. I would just like to say a few things. This billion dollar market is partial for newbees. I have started internet (mostly affilate) business since 6 months. I advertise in blogs, I have a website (http://www.freewebs.com/krithikai/), I also advertise through FFA, ezines, search engines, e mail blasters and also PPC and adwors. In spite of all this I have not had a single sale till today. Under this circumstances, dont you think anyone like me will jump for an opportunity like DJK when all other doors are closed. The faint hope of making some money lies in these programmes for new people like me who will otherwise be crushed by the big shots. However, I will think again before buying. thanks to you all. If anyone can help me to get atleast a few sales to wipe of some of my loans I will be thankful to them.
mangalam
Hi Mangalam,
Yes I do think a newbie having a hard time getting established would jump at this.
That’s what Chris counts on. My question to you is this, how is DJK going to help you if it doesn’t work?
I can tell you with all certainty that you will end up $97 poorer and even more so if you try any of the techniques in that ebook.
Putting good money after bad will accomplish nothing.
Hi,
I bought DJK and now I’d like to get a refund.
Trouble is I’m not sure exactly how I go about it.
Detailed advice would be much appreciated.
Thanx,
Dave
Hi Dave,
You request a refund through clickbank not through Chris.
You can request a refund by filling out the form Here
You have 60 days from date of purchase to get a refund. Refunds will only be charged back to your credit card. Clickbank doesn’t give cash refunds.
Here’s the request refund page again. http://www.clickbank.com/csinquiry.html
Thanks for you help Brian. Much appreciated. It’s not made very clear in the DJK documentation - to be expected I suppose.
No problem Dave.
The only good thing about DJK is that Chris has no control over refunds. Clickbank is who issues the refund. They are very good about giving a prompt refund. It’s a good thing that Clickbank handles the refunds otherwise you may have never gotten your money back..
[…] Today you can find so many negative things written about DJK which is what is probably keeping people away from it. I said in this post that day job killer was nothing but a piece of garbage and people would come to realize this sometime in the near future. […]
