I got an email a couple of days ago from someone who read a post that I wrote some time ago under the Internet Scams category on this website. The Internet Scams category is the most viewed area on this website. The question was if a particular program was a scam or legit.

I’ve decided to answer the question here for the benefit of anyone else who may question if a certain program is a scam or not. I will warn everyone that my answer may not be desirable to many.

Let me start by saying that the biggest resource that you have and most never even consider it, is you. If you haven’t read the tutorial on this website yet it would be a good idea to do so when you get the chance. It will give you answers to many of your marketing questions. You can find the link marked ‘Internet Marketing Tutorial’ at the top of this page as well as every page on this website.

Here’s my answer to this persons question. Create a website and write about something that you know a lot about and put it on your website. If you know what your website is about, making money from it is the easy part. If you have a website that provides information about computers then it is a no brainer that you would want to sell computer related products on your website.

You don’t need to get involved with the next great deal out there to make money online. Most digital, as well as membership sites are total garbage. They hype these things up to put money in their own pockets, not yours. They could care less whether you make money or not. Take care of your own business and to hell with everyone else.

While there are basic things that you need to learn and understand about doing business online before you can get started, the only way to become successful online is by doing it the way that is best for you, not the way that is best for someone else.

We all have our unique way of doing things. If you try to do things the exact same way as someone else does it, I will guarantee you that you will be so confused that you will never get it done. You must do things online in a way that you understand. Reading an e-book that tells you to do this or that will not work. You need to work in your own way. Not in a way that someone tells you to work.

If you want to be a business owner you have be a leader, not a follower. Stop taking everyone else’s advise, and run your business in a way that you feel will work the best for you. Learn what you need to get going but then put into action what you have learned. They may say that knowledge is power but it is totally useless if you do nothing with that knowledge.

Stop looking for that pot of gold. You already have it within yourself. No one will take care of you better than you will. Stop chasing every garbage product out there and start making your own decisions.

After the news of the sale of ‘the Rich Jerk’ empire last week the Rich Jerk responds to the claims that he is selling his online business to avoid bankruptcy. He says on his blog that his business is not up for sale.

If what ‘the Rich Jerk’ says is true then why was it advertised for sale last week on BizQuest? The ad has since been removed. Sounds to me, like, ‘the Rich Jerk’ has something to hide.

He goes on with his usual trash talk saying how he is better than everyone else and that the rumors were spread by website owners to get traffic to their website. That’s not the case. The fact remains that his business was advertised for sale a week ago and today it is not there.

He went on to say that he was going to sue the big name marketers for putting the news of the sale on their websites. I don’t know what grounds he figures to sue on since his business was clearly advertised for sale.

It’s really important to track the traffic to your website so that you know what pages your visitors are landing on the most often so that you can monetize the most popular pages to better provide your visitors with the information they are most interested in.

You may be very surprised at what web pages are the most popular. By tracking this website I have found that one of the most popular places is the search page. If I hadn’t been tracking this website I would have never known that nor would I have thought that the search page was one of the most popular here.

There are several ways that you can track your website but I will give you the two that I use for The Truth About Internet Marketing (this website).

The first is StatCounter. In my opinion StatCounter is the best tracking system on the Internet because of all the things on your website that you can track with it. This is an excellent tracker. There are so many things that you can track with StatCounter that it would be impossible to list everything here. I’m only going to tell you about the two tracking features that will help you evaluate where your traffic is coming from and what pages are being viewed the most often.

There are two features in StatCounter called ‘Recent Visitor Activity’ and ‘Returning Visitors’. These two features are just as they sound. The ‘Recent Visitor Activity’ feature gives you where the visitor came from such as a search engine or wherever the person came from and will also display what web page on your website the searcher was sent to. The ‘Returning Visitor’ feature tells you whether or not the visitor is a returning visitor which is really nice because it will tell you if there is a real interest in the topic of your website or not. If you are not yet using StatCounter you really should get it because you are missing out on important information about your website. You can get StatCounter here for free.

The second is ‘Crazy Egg’ which is another great tracking system. Crazy Egg is a little different than StatCounter in that it tracks your visitors after they have arrived on your website. In other words Crazy Egg picks up where StatCounter leaves off. When people come to your site you want to know exactly what pages they are looking at the most so that you know what your visitors are interested in the most so that you can provide them with this info on a regular basis and also make sure that these popular web pages are monetized to its full potential. Most important is to provide these visitors with the information that they came for on a regular basis so that they will come back often. ‘Crazy Egg’ will provide you with this crucial information. If you are not tracking the visitors to your website you are missing out on a lot. The information that it will provide you will help you determine what your visitors want the most from your website and will provide your visitors with a better experience and will keep them coming back for more and at the same time will put more money in your pocket.

Kelly Felix “the Rick Jerk” is selling his entire online business lock, stock and barrel. The Shoemoney Blog reports that he is selling his online empire to avoid bankruptcy.

I knew something was up with the ‘Rich Jerk’ because I always got an email from him without fail at least once a week and haven’t gotten one from him since February when he was peddling his RJ X-Ray software.

I was surprised by the news since the ‘Rich Jerk’ has been doing late night informmercials and seemed to be doing well. I guess everything isn’t always as it seems.

Get Google Ads Free is the newest piece of garbage being sold through Clickbank. Get Google Ads Free is an e-book that is supposed to teach you how to use pay per click advertising for free. As a matter of fact these idiots tell you that you will be able to spend millions of dollars on pay per click advertising and it won’t cost you a dime.

I haven’t read Get Google Ads Free nor do I intend to. If anyone wants to tell me that how can I call Get Google Ads Free a scam if I haven’t even read it? My answer will be that I’m not a moron and I do have common sense. I don’t need to buy a scam product to know it’s a scam. Save yourself the time and effort and don’t bother to ask because I just gave you the answer.

What totally amazes me is that Get Google Ads Free is number one on Clickbank which means a lot of people are buying this piece of garbage. The people who bought it have no reason to complain because they deserve to be scammed for being so stupid. I have no sympathy for them.

The claims that are made on the sales page on the Get Google Ads Free website are criminal in my opinion. It is written to completely mislead the suckers that come to buy the thing. I call them suckers because there isn’t a better word to describe people who are stupid enough to buy into something as idiotic as Get Google Ads Free.

I’m not shooting completely from the hip here either, I did run a search to see how the author of Get Google Ads Free could possibly explain how to get millions of dollars worth of pay per click ads for free.

It seems that the way that Get Google Ads Free works is you get your millions of dollars worth of free ads is to sell ad space on the landing pages of your website and charge a higher price than what you are paying for your pay per click ads to offset your ppc costs which is the same as getting your pay per click advertising for free. As I said earlier, the sales page of Get Google Ads Free in my opinion is criminal in the way that it misleads the reader. The person who wrote this piece of crap should be in jail in my opinion. Clickbank should do a better job of screening the products that are sold through their system. Since they haven’t done so to this point I guess they never will. As long as garbage products like Get Google Ads Free are making them loads of money that’s all that counts I guess.

If you are displaying adsense on your website there is a very easy way to increase the clicks of your ads by 4 times or more than what you may be presently getting. This is so easy to do that there is no reason not to do it.

Google allows you to place 3 ad blocks per web page. If you are not using 3 ad blocks on every web page on your website you are losing money.

Where you place your ads can make a big difference in how your ads will do. I have found that placing my adsense ads to the left just under the headline of each post is the best place to put my ad blocks.

If your website is an HTML website you would want to put your adsense ads as follows. The first ad block would be placed between the headline and the first paragraph. The second would be placed in the middle of the web page with the text wrapped around the ad block. The third would be placed at the bottom of the page at the last paragraph of the web page and would be the same as the second ad block with the text wrapped around it. Make sure that each ad block sits on the left of the webpage because it does make a difference in whether someone will click or not.

I know that everyone says to blend your ads in with your web pages but I think that this is a big mistake. While the background should blend in with the web page the links should not be the same color as the text. As a matter of fact I have found that using the standard blue text link color has a far better impact in the clicks that I get. If the links look clickable people are more apt to click them. If they look like normal text a lot of people may not realize that they are clickable links.

The best size that I found to give me the best results is using an ad block that is ‘300 x 250′. Changing this one thing alone tripled the amount of clicks on my adsense ads. Combining the size and the placement along with the look of the links as described above quadrupled my click rate on my adsense ads.

Of course this is not going to do any good for those who are not getting any traffic at all but it will certainly help those who are getting traffic no matter how little traffic that may be. If you are getting say 50 visitors a day you can expect to get 10 to 20 clicks a day by making these subtle changes. If you are getting 1000 or more visitors a day you can make a nice passive steady income. Even if you are not yet getting any traffic you should make these changes so that you get the best results from your adsense ads when the traffic does come.

I implemented these changes about a week ago and quadrupled the clicks and more than quadrupled my income for my adsense ads. I never used to even bother looking at my adsense income because it wasn’t worth the bother with the little that I made from it. You can bet from here on that I will be checking it on a regular
basis.

Yesterday I posted the above title and simply posted the link to the article in question. If you were here yesterday you may have been scratching your head as to why a site like this one would post a link like this and wondering what it has to do with Internet Marketing. Actually it has nothing to do with Internet Marketing and at the same time has everything to do with it.

The intention was to grab everyone’s attention. The fact that a whopping 98% of my visitors yesterday clicked that link is very telling in itself, considering that the article in question is 2 years old is impressive enough but the fact that it attracted people to it from an unrelated website is even more impressive.

While the title has absolutely nothing to do with Internet marketing the response in itself has everything to do with it in that it created a great deal of curiosity.

Make people curious and you will get clicks even if it has nothing to do with your website. Create curiosity that is related to the topic of your website and you will convert those curious visitors to paying customers.

While the above title will not make any sales it is compelling enough to make people click to see what the deal is. I didn’t put it here to sell anything I put it here to prove a point. The point is, if your headline makes people curious, even if it has nothing to do with the topic on your website they will click on it.

The people who come to this website are looking for information related to Internet marketing. Imagine how well a well written curious headline would do if it was Internet marketing related?

A curious headline in itself will not covert your visitors to paying customers. You must give them a compelling answer to the headline in question that made them click in the first place or you will not convert them to sales.

We humans are very curious animals and are curious by nature. Use this natural tendency to your advantage and you will do well. Curiosity may have killed the cat but it can make an Internet Marketer rich.

Pay Per Click can be a great way to convert some sales especially in the early going of your online business. There is something that you should never do and I have seen it quite a bit in pay per click ads that will cost you more than it will ever make you.

It seems to me that everyone is so fixated on the amount of traffic that they get instead of how much money that they are making. All the traffic in the world is useless if you are not converting that traffic to sales.

What you should never do is use the word ‘FREE’ in a pay per click ad. The reason that you never want to do this is because it will cost you valuable advertising dollars. If you are on a strict pay per click budget wasting advertising dollars is the last thing that you want to do.

The reason that you don’t want to put the word ‘FREE’ in your pay per click ad is you will attract a lot of freebie seekers at your expense. Even if you are using a freebie to entice people to purchase what you are selling, you still don’t want to put it in your pay per click ad because the freebie seeker will have to click the ad before he or she will realize that they will have to buy something in order to get the freebie. I can tell you that freebie seekers will never buy anything from you because they are looking for free stuff.

Save your free incentive offer for your pitch page where it won’t cost you anything. Keep it out of your pay per click ad. You will get a higher click through rate but a much lower conversion rate using the word free and you will increase your chances of having a losing advertising campaign to go along with that higher click through rate.

The name of the pay per click game is converting sales not getting as much traffic to your site as possible. I guess you have to ask yourself do I want more sales or more traffic. If your answer is the latter there are better ways to get traffic that won’t cost you money in advertising. Save your pay per click campaigns for making sales.

Your pay per click campaign should generate quality traffic that will convert that traffic to buying customers. Let the freebie seekers get their freebies somewhere else. Don’t let them do it on your dime.

Creating controversy is a great way to get noticed on the web because its very nature will cause a stir and can drive a lot of traffic to your website.

There is always something on the net that a lot of people are talking about and is very popular. Find it and write something about it that goes against the grain of what everyone else is saying about the particular topic.

It can be about almost anything as long as it fits in with the general topic of your website. Don’t dispute something about Internet Marketing if your website is about tropical fish because it will hurt the relevance of your website.

One of the best places to find popular topics is in the blogosphere where word about something popular spreads very quickly. If a big named blogger wrote about it, it will spread like wildfire throughout the blogosphere. Bloggers love to write about things that are really popular. Take advantage of this medium to find some articles that can be made controversial.

Keep in mind that when writing about something that goes against the grain of the masses is that what you are disputing are opinions and not facts. It’s impossible to dispute a fact and you will come off looking like an idiot if you try to dispute a fact. Stick with topics that you can’t possibly be proven wrong.

Not only is the blogosphere a great place to find topics that can be made controversial it is also a great place to write your controversial post. Because bloggers run in the same circles as other bloggers your controversial post will be more likely found in the blogosphere and the very people that are talking about the topic are more likely to respond and add fire to your controversial post.

I remember an article a while back that eMOMS AT HOME jumped on this and ran with it. That one statement by Aaron Wall supplied plenty of ammunition to write a controversial post. Maybe Aaron was taken out of context which really doesn’t matter because there was no way one way or the other that Wendy could be proven wrong in what she had written.

I can tell you that her post created a huge stir with not only the mommy bloggers but with a lot of male bloggers as well. Everyone loves a good fight and everyone wants to join in no matter who they are.

As you can see in this true life controversial example that it doesn’t always have to be about something that everyone is talking about. If you find something that someone says that can be exploited you can make it controversial like Wendy did.

You want to go after well known people or topics when you write something controversial because it won’t hold much weight otherwise. The bigger the name or the topic, the better response you will get.

Writing something that is controversial will not only get you noticed by people it can also get you noticed with the major search engines as well. If approached right you could end up on the top of the search engines.

I was just over at clickbank and found that day job killer dropped from the number one spot on clickbank all the way down to number 13.

I guess most have now realized that DJK doesn’t live up to all of the hype after all. I predicted this back when this thing was the hottest selling digital product on the net.

Today you can find so many negative things written about DJK which is what is probably keeping people away from it. I said in this post that day job killer was nothing but a piece of garbage and people would come to realize this sometime in the near future.

The fact that day job killer has dropped all the way down to 13th implies that that day has come for djk.

The unfortunate thing about it is that I’m sure Chris McNeeney made millions on this thing before people started to wise up about the product. It’s unfortunate that so many spent their hard earned money on this thing. The very fact that the product dropped all the way down to 13th is pretty telling.

To me, the worst thing about the day job killer ebook is that the original $77 selling price went to $197 in a matter of weeks and is still selling at that price. How can a product that costs $77 dollars one day, be worth $197 the next day? As far as I’m concerned no ebook is worth that kind of money. Increasing the price of a garbage product won’t add value to it.

The only thing that puts a smile on my face is that Chris McNeeney left his download page wide open and I’m sure that a lot of people have downloaded day job killer for free. I won’t give you the link to the download page because it is unethical to do so. I’m sure if you do some searching you will be able to find it on your own.
