Local and Regional Classified Ads
Using local and regional classified ads to advertise your online business is an excellent way to get your website known and will give you an advantage over your competition because most online businesses don’t use the local and regional classified ads.
When I say local and regional classified ads I am not talking about the free online classifieds. I am talking about placing small ads in local and regional newspapers or magazines.
Understand that most websites don’t use resources outside of the Internet. I don’t know if it’s because that it never occurs to them or maybe they think that the only way to make money online is to advertise online.
The nice thing about using local and regional classified ads is that you will get instant results unlike many advertising methods online. Yes it will cost you some money but it will also return that money rather quickly. Think about it, if someone sees an ad in the local or regional classified ads and takes the time to go to your website to check it out there must be a great interest in what you have to offer. Where there is interest, there is money to be made.
Using local and regional classified ads will get you some immediate traffic to your website. If you have a website that is well done and has a lot of information that is of interest to the visitor you can bet that you will have visitors that will come back time and time again.
Of course you do want to do some analysis before going out and placing your local and regional classified ads. You want to be sure that the return you will get is greater than the cost of the ads. Don’t just jump in blindly. Like anything else that you do in business you can lose money if you don’t take the time to make sure that it is feasible for your online business.
The best thing to do is to check to see what local and regional ads will cost for each ad so that you can budget for it. Check to see how many readers they have and that sort of thing. Don’t go with the cheapest just because they are the cheapest. You may find that the publication doesn’t have a high enough reader base to be worthwhile. You want to find the highest readership for the lowest cost.
So start placing those little ads in the local and regional classified ads. You will be amazed how quickly you can grow your online business using this method.

Selling Triggers
Using selling triggers when marketing online is more important than any place else because the person on the other end can only go by what you have written. It’s a lot different than in the real world where a perspective buyer can see the product or can be convinced to buy from a sales person.
Using emotional triggers in your sales letter is an absolute must in order to make sales on the Internet. Below are a couple of motivations that may help close the deal.
If you were selling a money making opportunity it is obvious that you would want to throw in a monetary trigger to help seal the deal. There are more selling triggers that you can use if you were selling a money making opportunity than just the monetary aspect. There is also the, be your own boss selling trigger, work when you want selling trigger, take extravagant vacations selling trigger, spend more time with family and friends selling trigger, etc.
If you were selling gym equipment you could use selling triggers like, lose weight, look and feel better, make yourself stronger, build muscle, etc.
The point is that you want to use selling triggers throughout your sales page to trigger an emotion to motivate the perspective buyer to not only buy your product, but to buy your product now. Let’s face it, most will never buy once they’ve clicked away from your website. Emotional selling triggers will get them to buy now.
What you are basically doing with these selling triggers is painting a picture for the potential buyer. As they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Save the words and paint the picture instead. You will make way more sales by doing so.
You can use selling triggers to evoke an emotion for anything that you sell. All you really have to do is take the best feature of the product that you are selling and use it as a selling trigger.
Let’s say that you are selling an ebook that teaches people how to become popular. This is a real easy one because all you have to do is paint a picture of people falling all over themselves to be seen with them and you will have successfully evoked an emotional trigger that will at least keep the perspective buyer reading your sales ad and will at least make them consider to buy.
You want to continue throughout the sales ad to add new selling triggers to keep the reader excited about your product. The more selling triggers there are the better. If the reader of your sales ad is still excited by the time that he/she is done reading, your chances of making the sale has increased tremendously.
Take a look at the product that you are selling, take it’s biggest feature and paint a picture using selling triggers throughout your sales ad and watch your sales increase tremendously.

Internet Marketing Ideas. Will You Take Action?
No matter what the Internet marketing ideas are or how good those ideas may be they will never be realized unless action is taken. Internet marketing ideas are only as good as the action that is taken. If they are just ideas that you keep to yourself then that’s all they ever will be.
Too many marketers for whatever reason just don’t take the appropriate action that is required to bring whatever ideas they may have to reality. I don’t know if it’s just plain being lazy, or the inability to get started because they don’t know how to start or what?
The point is, if you have some good Internet marketing ideas, act on them. Don’t sit back and keep them to yourself otherwise you will never get anywhere.
There are lots of ways to take action. It all depends on what ideas you have and what you want the result of your ideas to be.
The action that you take could be as simple as taking your Internet marketing ideas and putting them on your website in article form. Or it could be a system that you have come up with and want to try it out to see what happens. The bottom line is if you don’t take action you will never know if your Internet marketing ideas are any good or not.

Internet Marketing Scams
So many Internet marketing scams and so little time and space to list them all here. With all of the Internet marketing scams that are a plague on the net it is almost impossible to weed through them all and determine which are legitimate, and which are complete scams. It’s very annoying actually. Here are the most common Internet marketing scams that I have been spammed with.
Order now or lose out forever
I love this one. You are told that if you don’t buy the piece of garbage that is being offered by a certain date you will lose out forever. They will say something like, if you don’t buy this by 12:00 midnight on that day you will not be able to get this product ever. How unlucky that would be.
When you go back to the website the next day the date will have changed to that days date. You could go back 6 months later and find that date there. As long as these morons are making money, the timestamp on the offer will be for as long as it is making money. I hate this type of Internet marketing scam.
Then you have the Internet marketing scams which is very similar to the one above. This one will tell you that you must be one of the first 500 to purchase in order to get their invaluable product. What really annoys me about this is that they will make it sound like you are one of the lucky one’s to get in on this great opportunity. Yeah right! Hit me for a crap load of money and deliver nothing. How lucky can I get?
You will get a count down of how many are left to be sold. This Internet marketing scam generally never expires either. If it does, it almost always will reappear in a month or so.
This Internet marketing scam is an offshoot of the first two Internet marketing scams. Notice the trend? All of these scumbags seem to think alike. Here you will be told that if you don’t buy right away that the price of the newest piece of crap that they are selling will at least double in price if not more. The gurus love to use this one. How nice of them to give me the opportunity to get this at half price. Again, the price almost never goes up. If it does it’s to somehow legitimize the piece of garbage that they are trying to sell you.
Another one of those Internet marketing scams that makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up is the one that tells you that anyone can do this and that almost no work on your part is required. Just put it on autopilot and you’ll be rich in no time. Yep, that’s been my experience with these products. NOT!
I’m a millionaire and if you follow my proven system step by step, you’ll be one too. This is one of those Internet marketing scams that I can’t help but chuckle when I read it. Most of these guys don’t have two nickels to rub together yet they are going to make you rich just like them. The worst thing about this Internet marketing scam is you usually get a story of their humble beginning and how their system pulled them out of the gutter. This Internet marketing scam is too pathetic to even comment on.
As I said there are so many Internet marketing scams out there that I could write about this forever. I’ll stop here because I am too lazy to list them all. ![]()

Squeeze Page - Do you Really Need One?
Those who sell squeeze page software or sell squeeze page info will tell you that you do in order to get you to buy from them.
To start with you don’t need to buy squeeze page software or squeeze page info because a squeeze page is just a web form that has been made to look more professional.
In case you don’t know what a squeeze page is, it is simply a web form that visitors to your web page will give their name and email address so that the website owner can collect emails with it.
What I don’t like about a squeeze page is the way that most webmasters use them. I’m sure that you have come across a site or two where in order to view the website you have to give your email address. The site owner does this for one reason only, to get your email address so that he or she can spam you. When I land on a squeeze page like this I simply click away.
Web forms were not created with this in mind. They were originally created so that the user could voluntarily sign up for a newsletter, ezine, get updates, or for when someone bought something online so that the user could get a confirmation of what was purchased.
What many websites do with the so called squeeze page is tell you that they have invaluable information that will make you rich overnight but you have to give your name and email to see this information. After you have given your info you are almost always taken to a sales page where they will sell you this valuable info. Whether you buy or not is no big deal because you will be spammed with every garbage product that they sell.
The biggest culprits are the gurus. They justify it by saying that you gave them the info. Technically that’s true however the user wasn’t given much choice if he or she wants to see the info on their website. They trick you in believing that you will see this info for free. What ends up being free is the info about the info that they are trying to sell you. Before ever realizing it you’ve been squeezed. Hence the name squeeze page.
Then you have the people that sell the squeeze page software. These jerks use a squeeze page to get your email and then send you to their sales page where they tell you that you will be able to collect hundreds of thousands, if not millions of email addresses practically overnight.
You may be thinking that this is a great concept and that it should work. To start with it is unethical to use a squeeze page and it can and probably will get you in trouble with your host when someone reports you for spamming them. If you truly believe that you really can collect hundreds of thousands of emails and use them successfully, go try it and come back here and comment on how successful it was. I’m willing to bet that you will be very surprised how unsuccessful you will be.
At any rate, if you want to use a squeeze page on your website and I suggest that you don’t, create your own. Don’t buy it from marketers who only want to separate you from your money. There are plenty of tutorials online that will teach you how to create your own web form. Throw some images on it and make ridiculous claims and you will have a run of the mill squeeze page. ![]()

Starting a Home Based Internet Marketing Business
If you are starting a home based Internet marketing business or you have been thinking about it there are a few things that you should take into consideration before you start.
The first thing that you want to make sure of is before you start your home based Internet marketing business is to check to see how competitive the market that you are planning to get into is. If the market is very competitive you will have a very difficult time getting it off the ground. Do some research to see how competitive the market is for your planned home based Internet marketing business.
You should not spend any real money on a new home based Internet marketing business until you have a full understanding of the process. Many new marketers lose their shirts on paid advertising such a Google adwords simply because they have no idea of what they are doing. It may sound like a good way to get your new home based Internet marketing business known and it is if you know what you are doing. There’s a lot more to this type of advertising than just throwing up an ad. You have to learn the ins and outs before you start advertising otherwise you will probably lose a lot of money.
The most important thing that you want to do before starting a new home based Internet marketing business is learn as much as you can about the subject. I don’t suggest that you go out and spend money on the subject because too many marketers out there are selling junk and the only thing that they care about is getting your money. There is plenty of information on the subject of Internet marketing and it won’t cost you anything. Run a Google search on the subject. There are tons of websites out there with good info on Internet marketing.
Don’t buy into the hype. Everyone and his brother is going to try to sell you something. The way that most will try to sell to you is by telling you that you will make easy money without having to do much of anything. You have to ask yourself when’s the last time that you’ve made money from doing almost nothing. Stay away from the hype, it will bleed you dry.
While the list of what you should do and what to look out for when starting a home based Internet marketing business is short, they are the most common. Of course there are many more that you will discover along the way but by doing these few things you will get your home based Internet marketing business off to a smoother start.

Search Engine Ranks
This is a copy of a post that I made on a forum recently. The question was, why my ranking with the search engines is dropping. This person has been recently getting inbound links to his website. Below is my response. I thought that I would share this with everyone here in case you are experiencing the same problem.
Response to Search Engine Ranks
My website is a year and a half old. I have ranked on Google for keywords that went from #1 to dropping off the index.
What I have noticed with Google is it doesn’t like drastic changes, especially on page changes. My website is a blog and I try to post regularly to keep my regular visitors coming back. Last summer I was going on vacation and didn’t want to have to post while on vacation. I stupidly posted 14 days worth of posts all on the same day. I should have time stamped them to go live one day at a time. When I got home from vacation 80% of my indexed pages were de-indexed from Google. In my opinion that drastic change, (posting 14 articles in the same day) was the main contributor of the 80% of my posts falling out of Google’s index.
In my opinion you should never screw around with on page optimization (especially the title) if your page once listed well. If it was listed well at one point there is no reason to believe that there is something wrong with your on page optimization. From my own experiences re-optimizing your web pages generally does more harm than good.
The biggest thing that I have found in the 18 months with this particular website is that the search engines do not like drastic changes. With all of the black hat seo tactics that many webmasters use, search engines are very leery when something has drastically changed.
I’m willing to bet that you were doing little if any linking until now. While your linking activity is relatively slow it is probably more activity than what your website has shown in the past.
Bottom line in my opinion is that consistency is what the search engines want. Sudden change raises a red flag to the search engines that something may be up. I could be totally wrong here but with my past experiences and there have been more than mentioned here, I don’t think that I am. I have found that doing nothing is the best thing to do when a keyword suddenly drops because the reason for it is probably because of what you have already done and not what you neglected to do before the drop.

On Site SEO and Link Building
On site SEO and link building is an important part of getting your website found by the search engines. I’m not going to talk about the on site part of seo. I will be talking about a link building strategy that really isn’t all that true.
There is a lot of talk online that the sites that link to you must be related to your own website. I’ve said the same thing myself on this blog. I have recently realized that this in fact is not the case.
You may be thinking if this is not true then why are so many saying it. I think the answer to that is that most do believe that this is true. Someone probably said this somewhere on a forum or wherever and because it makes sense, I think that most just took it as law.
I’m not saying that somewhere in the future that this won’t be an important part of determining how relevant a website is. I’m saying, at the moment, it is not.
How do I know this? I’ve been experimenting with this website and can tell you that the main keyword for this website which I have been trying to rank for since its inception went from being listed on Google at 356 to 31st as of today. That’s a huge leap in position on Google’s index.
Instead of trying to selectively link to sites that are related to mine, I decided to just link to as many sites as I possibly could. In the past 3 months I’ve added just an extra 300 inlinks to this site of which most are unrelated to this one. That’s the only optimization change I have made to this website in the past three months. I intend to continue to increase the number of inlinks to this website to see if I can get my keyword to place on page one of the search engines.
Let’s face it. If you are in a niche with limited sites that you can link to, what you have may not be enough to get you ranked where you want to be ranked on the search engines. Whoever said that, it’s quality not quantity is the biggest factor when it comes to link building is either a liar or doesn’t know what he/she is talking about. When it comes to on site seo and link building, the quantity of inlinks that you have is most certainly a huge factor on where you’ll list on the search engines.

Backlinks are King?
I’ve been spending my time much of this week looking at other blogs that deal with topics that are similar to the one’s here on this blog. I check other blog sites for a couple of reasons, one is to get new ideas to write about, and the other to find posts to comment to, to get some good back links to this site.
Anyway, there was a post that said that back links are king and not content. I know that both are really important but I’ll have to disagree with that post.
Everyone wants good back links so that the search engines will rank their website better however, content has been the only constant when it comes to the web in general. It has been this way since day one. The World Wide Web was created on the basis that people from anywhere in the world can share and get information. That’s what the Internet was built around and that will never change because that’s what the World Wide Web is, and always will be.
Search engines, (especially Google) will always put content in front of anything else no matter what it is. The web as a whole could not survive without the information that is provided. That’s what the majority of web surfers do on the Internet. For the most part they buy things on a whim when they find something of interest on the web page they are reading. Without the information the Internet user would never have found that product to buy.
Traffic and rankings are really important but without good quality, and frequently updated content, those back links are totally useless. What good is the extra traffic and the better ranking, if the website has nothing of substance on it?

How to Get the Right Keywords
I’ve been asked on numerous occasions, how I get the right keywords to use for my website. I’ll give you a quick breakdown on how to get the right keywords for your website and hopefully it will get some traffic flowing to your website.
How to get the right keywords that will help your website be found with the search engines is no secret and is pretty easy to do. While it’s a little bit of work it is well worth doing with the rewards it will bring.
Here’s how to get the right keywords for your website. There are only a few things that you really have to do to get the right keywords for your website. That doesn’t mean that you should rush through it. Take your time and explore all possibilities before making any final decisions.
- Start by writing a list of keyword possibilities that pertain to the subject matter of your website.
- After you have made a list of all of your possible keywords use this tool to evaluate your keyword list. Plug in your keyword phrases into the search box to see how many people are searching for the term on a daily basis. If there are no search results for the search term scratch it from your list. Dig through the sub links that are relevant to your website. Add the sub links to your list along with the number of daily searches for the main keywords and the sub keywords that you find.
Don’t exclude keywords that get a low number of searches. I will explain why shortly.
- Go to Google and run an allintitle search. Here’s how to run an allintitle search. Type in the Google search box, allintitle:Your Keyword Phrase. Replace Your Keyword Phrase with the main keywords that you originally listed and the sub keyword phrases that you found from doing your keyword research.
Using the toy train example your allintitle would look like this for toy train allintitle:toy train Put the number of results on the keyword list beside the keyword for every allintitle search that you run. You will find the results on the right side above the result list in Google.
- From Google, run a link search of the top four sites listed in Google for each keyword on your list. Here’s how you would run a link search.
Plug into the Google search box a keyword phrase from your list. Click on the top 4 sites from the search results that are listed, one by one. Copy the url from the address bar and paste it beside the corresponding keyword phrase for that search to your keyword list. Do the same for all of the keyword phrases on your list.
Once you have all of the urls for the top sites, go to yahoo and run a link search. Using the toy train example, the link search would look like this link:toytrain.com
You will get a list of results. The only thing that you need is the inlink number that will display at the top of the link search results. It will look like this. Inlinks (93). Again, put that number beside the corresponding keyword phrase on your list. Go through the same process for the other three links for that keyword phrase. You should end up with 4 Inlink numbers for each keyword phrase. Go through the rest of your keyword list repeating the process above for the remainder of your keyword list.
For example: If your website is about toy trains, toy trains and trains would be something that you’d list.
Now comes the evaluation. This will require common sense on your part. What you will be looking for are keywords that are not highly competitive.
Check your allintitle results. How many websites have the keyword in the title? The lower the number is, the less competitive it is. If you have an allintitle number that has 1,000 results or less, you have very low competition for that keyword. The same goes for the Inlinks. The less links that the top websites are getting the better.
You need to factor these two things in. That’s where the common sense comes in. If you have a keyword with an allintitle of say 800 results and the inlink results show 100 results, you have a good keyword. Where it gets a little confusing is when you have a low allintitle result and a high inlink result. That’s where you have to make a decision and use some common sense. Remember, you don’t have to be #1 on the search engines, you do want to be on the first page though. Chances are even if the inlink total is too high on the first 4 results doesn’t mean that every listing on the first page of Google will have a high total of inbound links.
The whole idea of going through the above process is to find keywords that will get your website found on the search engines. Finding a good keyword doesn’t mean getting the highest search result. Those keywords are almost always impossible to rank well on the search engines. You want to use keywords that are low in competition.
Low searches can result in additional traffic to your website as long a it isn’t too competitive. 5 searches a day for a keyword will result in over 100 searches a month. If you had 60 pages on your website using a different keyword for each page you could get found by 6,000 searchers a month at 5 searches a day for each keyword. It all adds up.
Anyway, that’s how to get the right keywords for your website.
